Huỳnh Phong Sơn, a 12-year-old student from HCM City’s Hóc Môn District, says his parents want him to spend time on physical activities this summer. But that’s not all. He’s taking English and singing classes as well. “I play football with my neighbours every afternoon, and I swim with my cousins and friends on the weekends,” Sơn says. In a bid to create a modern education ecosystem in Vietnam and gradually break into promising regional markets, privately-held education firm Egroup has just inked an agreement to acquire a 15 per cent stake in Minischool in South Korea. According to Navigos Search’s statistics, the recruitment demand for middle and senior level positions from Navigos Search’s clients in 2017 increased 28 per cent compared to 2016. IT sector ranked fourth regarding the recruitment demand for middle and senior level positions. In this sector, the highest recruitment demand belongs to information technology and software services. Also, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications, the total current IT manpower is over 600,000 employees in Vietnam. Within this number, employees working in the hardware industry make up about 300,000. The remaining staffs are working in the field of software industry and digital content creation. Vietnam is forecasted to require 1.2 million IT employees by 2020.
