While they are both traditional martial arts, Vietnamese kickboxing, known as Vovinam, seems to be introduced to the world in a less appealing way than its Thai counterpart – Muay Thai. While they are both traditional martial arts, Vietnamese kickboxing, known as Vovinam, seems to be introduced to the world in a less appealing way than its Thai counterpart – Muay Thai. The Vietnam Vovinam Federation (VVF) has extended efforts over the last few years to bring the country’s martial art closer to the world by launching drives to have the sport included in many region- and word-level tournaments. The VVF will support India to host the South Asia Vovinam Tournament in November, and is soliciting support for a Vovinam competition to be organized at the upcoming 2015 SEA Games in Singapore. But besides trying to have Vovinam included in such tourneys, Vietnam does not seem to have any other channel to increase its practitioners and fans across the globe compared to what … [Read more...] about Vietnam lacks attractive channel to introduce Vovinam

Art stages find ways to lure foreign tourists
VietNamNet Bridge – Saigon has several stages to entertain foreign tourists, including AO Show, Rong Vang Water Puppetry Theater, Hon Viet, Non La Theater and newly opened Phuong Nam Theater. While Rong Vang and AO Show put on regular shows to meet great demand of travelers, Hon Viet (Soul of Vietnam) and Non La Theater have temporarily stopped their operation. In tough economic times, how to maintain operations and lure more tourists is a big challenge for local art stages. New and different: key factors to survive According to local experts, there are many reasons to explain the success of Rong Vang Theater as water puppetry is a unique genre in Vietnam. Furthermore, Rong Vang is the only water puppetry theater in HCMC where tourists are excited to discover a new kind of art. Diversified products to get more tourists coming back to Vietnam
Vietnam has been famous for attractions such as Ha Long Bay, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Son Doong cave, Da Nang, Hoi An, Hue and Sapa. Vietnam this year recorded at receiving 13 million foreign tourists, up 28 per cent against last year. The country also ranked 67th among 136 economies in the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2017, putting it among the 10 most-improved since 2015. But last year, the Pacific Asia Travel Association, a non-profit group, estimated that only 6 percent of first-time visitors to Vietnam ever return. To put things in perspective, around 60 to 70 percent of travelers to Thailand, which received a record 33 million international arrivals in 2016, … [Read more...] about Diversified products to get more tourists coming back to Vietnam
Cooperation needed to promote MICE tourism
Lack of cooperation and attractive products are among major problems of the domestic MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, exhibitions) tourism industry, a conference has heard. At the meeting organized by the Vietnam MICE Club two months after it was established, Bui Le Quan of VCCI Exhibition Service Co. said the lack of reasonably priced packages created by the cooperation of MICE service providers has driven international tourists to foreign packages. Chairman Phan Xuan Anh of Viet Excursions Travel Company agreed. He said many French tourists chose to fly to Hanoi via Air France or Thai Airways rather than Vietnam Airlines because the latter’s were more expensive and difficult to book. However, a representative of the airline said this was not the case. Nguyen Hong Nga of Vietnam Airlines said the firm had developed attractive pricing to promote MICE tourism. “We have low priced tickets available in certain periods, especially for MICE customers,” she … [Read more...] about Cooperation needed to promote MICE tourism
Dong Thap’s ‘house of love’ proves a popular attraction
VietNamNet Bridge – Do you know what is the most famous house in Viet Nam? Maybe you'd answer "No" because even I only discovered it by accident. The southern province of Dong Thap is wellknown not only for its populous and fertile land, known as the "rice bowl" of the nation, but is also home to the house made famous by Marguerite Duras in her novel The Lover. Located in Sa Dec, the oldest town of the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta, the house first became a tourist site in 2007 and has since welcomed thousands of visitors. The house was the home of the lover Duras took when she was just 15. Her story tells of a couple who fell in love at first site on a ferry-boat running along the Tien River from Dong Thap to Sai Gon (now HCM City). They failed to have the support of their families who were from different classes and nationalities. Huynh Thuy Le was a local inheritor of the province's richest family while French Duras was a … [Read more...] about Dong Thap’s ‘house of love’ proves a popular attraction
