European Union working to increase economic, security ties in Pacific

The European Union is working to boost its presence in the Pacific through economic ties and new security commitments as geostrategic competition in the region intensifies, the bloc's ambassador to Pacific Island nations said on Tuesday. Ambassador Sujiro Seam told Reuters in an interview during a visit to New Zealand the EU had long been seen as a development partner in the Pacific and that it wanted to be perceived as an economic and strategic partner as well. The EU's push comes as major powers are vying for influence in the region, with the United States and Australia ramping up engagement in the Pacific after China signed a security pact with the Solomon Islands this year. "The geostrategic importance of the Pacific is recognised by everyone, including the European Union," Seam said. Ring Road 3 in HCMC to start works on June 30 of 2023

The Ring Road No.3 project is divided into eight component projects under public investment form, traveling through three provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Long An and Ho Chi Minh City, comprising four component projects of compensation and resettlement support. Heads of the People’s Committees of Ho Chi Minh City, the provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Long An will be authorized to impose decisions on component projects investment. Germany accepts Vietnamese redesigned passport

The move aims to facilitate Vietnamese citizens in Germany to obtain residence permits and conduct other administrative procedures. Germany has recognized the validity of the newly introduced Vietnamese passport after the Vietnamese authorities agreed to add information about the holder's place of birth, according to the German Embassy in Hanoi. Accordingly, Germany will begin issuing visas for Vietnamese holders of the new passport as long as it is added information about the place of birth on the observations page. President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum reopens
