Vietnam Green Building Week 2022 slated for October

Illustrative image (Source: VNA) This year, the week aims to realise Vietnam’s commitments announced at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26). According to the Ministry of Construction, the Vietnam Green Building Week 2022 will be an open and prestigious forum that connects more than 1,200 policy-makers and representatives of construction businesses, industry-leading architects and design professionals, as well as suppliers of building materials, equipment and technology. The week will include a plenary session and three thematic discussions on experience in green building planning and development as well as sustainable urban construction, contributing to realising Vietnam's commitments at COP26. Statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) show that in the first seven months of 2022, Vietnam served 954,600 foreign tourists, up nine folds compared to the same period last year. In July alone, the nation welcomed 352,600 foreign visitors, up 49% month-on-month. Foreign tourists to Vietnam over the recent past mainly came from the Asia-Pacific region, prominently in the top 10 markets being the Republic of Korea with 196,200 arrivals, up 903.7% year-on-year; the US 102,900, up 5,382%; and Japan 46,000, up 794.6%. Cambodia to host ASEAN Para Games 2023

Malaysian finance minister warns of risks to recovery

He said the numbers speak for themselves as Malaysia had a strong first quarter this year, with gross domestic product ( GDP ) growth of 5%, and is on track to achieve a GDP growth rate of 5.3 to 6.3% in 2022. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate dipped to 3.9% in both May and June 2022, showing a declining trend for 14 consecutive months now, he said in his opening keynote address at the Malaysian Student Leaders Summit XVI 2022 on August 8. Vietnam reports 1,381 new COVID-19 cases on August 7

The new infections brought the country’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 11,347,518. In its bi-annual report, the lender said: “Vietnam needs a workforce with 21st century skills to grow. Cuu Long JOC oil production likely to hit 400 million barrels this year

Illustrative image (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Oil exploitation in Block 15.1 by Cuu Long Joint Operating Company ( Cuu Long JOC ) is likely to reach a new milestone of 400 million barrels in December, the firm has announced. Cuu Long JOC - comprising Petro Vietnam , ConocoPhillips, KNOC, SK Corporation, and Geopetrol - is the second-biggest oil producer in Vietnam that was established in 1998. According to Cuu Long JOC Director Nguyen Van Que , as of 2011, the firm had paid 11.9 billion USD to the State budget, and posted a revenue of 27.3 billion USD. In the first seven months of this year, the company installed underground pumps and successfully drilled two more wells. Therefore, the firm expects to pay 864 million USD to the State budget this year, he said. According to Que, Cuu Long JOC's investment in oil and gas exploration and production from 2003 to the end of 2022 will reach about 7.75 billion USD. Amendments to draft revised land law expected to be done in 2023: NA Chairman

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The draft Law on Land (revised) will be tabled for discussion for the first time by the 15th National Assembly during its fourth session and the amendments would be completed within 2023, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said at a working session with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) in Hanoi on August 8. He asked the Government to send the dossier of the draft law to the NA Committee for Economic Affairs and the NA Standing Committee before September 1 to seek feedback from full-time legislators. The MoNRE should work harder to build reports on economic, social, environmental impacts as well as impacts on national defence and security, and the domestic business environment.
