The HCMC Delegation of the 14th and 15th National Assembly (NA) deputies visit and offer gifts to troops stationed on Con Dao Islands. HCM City helicopter tours proposed
The HCM City Department of Tourism has proposed opening helicopter tours to see the city from above. Under the department’s recommendation sent to the municipal people’s committee, the helicopter service will operate until December with flights three days per week. Passengers on a helicopter tour in HCM City On the recent Reunification Day and May Day, the department co-operated with Military Hospital 175 and the Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company to pilot five helicopter tours carrying 80 passengers. More than 200 other passengers have also booked tours with HCM City’s travel firms. Many passengers expressed their interest in helicopter trips connecting HCM City and its districts of Can Gio and Cu Chi and the neighbouring province of Long And. However, helicopter services have to give way to civil flights. A Thai familiarization trip (fam trip) group visited Phu Quoc Island, off Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam, for a survey tour earlier this week as a preparation for bringing more Thai travelers to the offshore island city, commonly known as the ‘pearl island.’ Some 30 members of the group started their three-day tour of Phu Quoc on Wednesday with a welcome from the provincial Department of Tourism, Kien Giang Tourism Association, and local travel firms. “This is the first Thai tourist group that has visited Phu Quoc since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit Vietnam in early 2020,” said Nguyen Chi Thanh, deputy director of the Kien Giang Department of Tourism. Strict visa policies hinder international guests from visiting Vietnam
Because of strict visa policies, promotions to attract international tourists have not been as effective as expected, according to many businesses. Enterprises have made huge investments to welcome back tourists, but such illogical visa policies may slow down the tourism recovery pace. Being confused and facing difficulties Many travel companies in Da Nang City told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that visa policies for foreign tourists were still their biggest concern. Before the COVID-19 outbreak, Vietnam offered the visa waiver policy for citizens of many countries and the normal visa approval period was three to five days (visas which were valid for 30 days).
