TRH The Danish Crown Prince Couple will pay an official visit to Vietnam this November to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and promote green solutions. TRH The Crown Prince and Crown Princess and the accompanying Danish business delegation will arrive in Hanoi on November 1 on a two-day visit where they will meet with local business people and official representatives, participate in debates on green transition and visit local energy projects. The visit is also part of celebrating the 50-year anniversary for Danish-Vietnamese diplomatic relations. Denmark and Vietnam share a close bilateral relationship. Royal Cambodian Navy’s mission visits Vietnam’s Naval Academy
At the working session, Rear Admiral Nguyen Van Lam, President of the Naval Academy, briefed the Cambodian guests on the history, tradition, missions, achievements and orientation for the development of the academy. He also updated the visiting mission on the academy’s outcomes in training Cambodian naval cadets and officers. Over the past years, the Naval Academy has trained thousands of Cambodian naval officers. In recent years, despite the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the academy has still continued its training programs for Cambodian cadets as planned. President hosts Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Switzerland
The State leader hailed the contributions by Rosler to the Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership either as a German politician in the past or a business leader and Vietnam’s Honorary Consul in Switzerland at present. Noting the fast recovery of tourism in Vietnam, President Phuc said he hopes more and more tourists and businesses from Europe will come to Vietnam. According to the President, although the EVFTA has opened up opportunities for trade and investment ties between Vietnam and Germany and Switzerland, bilateral trade between Vietnam and those countries decreased in 2021 due to the pandemic. Vietnam continues to be one of the top FDI receivers in ASEAN
According to the latest report by HSBC, total FDI to ASEAN-6 (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines) has averaged nearly $127 billion per year since 2010, approximately three times more than the average over the previous decade – the average for 2000-09 was $41 billion. Similarly, net FDI – inbound minus outbound direct investment – has averaged nearly $54 billion a year since 2010, almost four times the average from the previous decade. Thinking of FDI-driven economic success stories, Vietnam naturally stands out. The country has turned itself into a rising star in global supply chains, gaining a substantial global market share in many sectors including textiles, footwear, and consumer electronics. Vietnam Airlines plans to restore its entire flight network by the end of 2023
In the first six months of 2022, Vietnam Airlines has resumed flights to 14 countries and territories, including the UK, France, Germany, Australia, the US, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Lately, the airline has opened a new route to India and is preparing the necessary conditions to immediately reopen flights to China, Myanmar, and Russia when the conditions permit. The national carrier is expected to resume flights to Indonesia in July and key international routes to Japan, Korea, and Australia in November at the same flight frequency as in 2019. It hopes that it will be able to restore the entire international flight network, equivalent to that in 2019 by the end of 2023. FDI commitments to Vietnam reach over US$14 billion in H1 2022
Vietnam remains a favorite destination for foreign firms seeking to shield from a combination of geopolitical tensions, rising operational costs thanks to the country’s strong economic performance in recent years. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) commitments in the first half of 2022 reached over US$14.03 billion, equivalent to 91.1% of the same period last year, a report of the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment has shown. Danish Crown Prince’s visit to Vietnam promotes green solutions

Mobile malware up in Vietnam: Kaspersky’s report

(Photo courtesy of Kaspersky) HCM City (VNS/VNA) - Along with a surge in the number of mobile phone users accessing the Internet, there has been an increase in the number of mobile malware targeting Vietnamese users, according to the global cybersecurity company Kaspersky. According to the Digital 2022 report conducted by We Are Social, the number of mobile phone users accessing the Internet grew by 147% year-on-year last year. Kaspersky, meanwhile, reported that it detected and prevented a total of 43,171 mobile attacks targeting Vietnamese users last year, 46.9% higher than in 2020. Trojan is the most common threat in Vietnam. While Vietnam and Thailand saw growth in the number of malware attacks, the rest of Southeast Asia observed a downward trend in the number of attacks on mobile users thanks in part to Kaspersky’s efforts to block more than 2,000 mobile malware per day.
