TV show reunites Soviet teachers with Vietnamese students

According to a report, the former USSR trained around 52,000 Vietnamese experts and officials in various fields. Decades later, both Vietnamese former students and their Soviet teachers recall a fond relationship, which was documented in a Vietnam Television (VTV) program on Jan. 17. The show, titled “Soviet teachers and Vietnamese students,” reunites some of the educators and pupils, focusing on shared memories and feelings of gratitude between both parties. Former students grateful to Soviet teachers The show offered a rare opportunity for Vietnamese former students to express thanks to their Soviet teachers. Deputy Minister of Information and Telecommunications Do Quy Doan said that every time he visits Moscow, he makes a stop at the renowned LomonosovUniversity where he once studied. “I still keep in contact with my teachers, including Professor Nikolayevich Zasuski who is now 85 years old,” he said. Honda presents 12th Y-E-S Award to ten excellent Vietnamese students Most Recent News

NDO – The 12th Honda Y-E-S Award, featuring ten Honda motorbikes and cash prizes of US$30,000, was presented to ten excellent Vietnamese students at a ceremony held by Honda Vietnam (HVN) in Hanoi, on December 8. The awardees included two students from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, three from the University of Engineering and Technology, under the Vietnam National University; one from the Hue University of Sciences, one from the University of Science and Technology, under the University of Da Nang; one from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, and two from the International University, under the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. In addition to the aforementioned prizes, these ten students will also have the chance to win a Honda Y-E-S Plus prize worth US$10,000 if they win a post-graduate scholarship to study in Japan. The Institute of International Education’s (IIE) annual 'Open Doors' Report has revealed that the number of Vietnamese students studying in the U.S. had risen for 16 consecutive years, the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi announced in a press release on Tuesday.According to the report for the 2016-17 academic year, Vietnam remains the sixth leading country of origin for international students in the U.S., with 22,438 students, a 1,035 student or five percent increase from 2015-16.Of the 22,438 Vietnamese students in the U.S., 68 percent were undergraduates, 15.6 percent were graduate-level students, nine percent were enrolled in Optional Practical Training, and the remaining 7.4 percent pursued non-degree programs. The U.S. received nearly 1.1 million international students for the 2016-17 academic year, a 3.4 percent surge over last year, according to the data.International students accounted for 5.3 percent of all higher education students in the country, a slight increase from last … [Read more...] about Number of Vietnamese students in US increases for 16th straight year  ​ Info Alert Alert Chia sẻ bài viết qua e-mail
