A British diplomat shared with young Vietnamese last weekend what he thought to be the key to winning a prestigious scholarship offered by the UK government, pointing out some of the candidates’ misunderstandings. British Consul General Ian Gibbons said on the sidelines of the ‘Leader from Below’ workshop, organized by the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on January 12, that Vietnamese candidates tend not to fully understand what Chevening looks for in its two main requirements: leadership and influencing skills. Now it doesn’t matter, as the dreams are reality. The Việt Nam men’s U22 football team won a gold medal at the 30th Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines by defeating Indonesia 3-0 in the final. A popular saying goes ‘phúc bất trùng lai’, which means happiness does not repeat itself, but the men’s victory came just days after the women’s team won their own gold medal at the Games. Ukraine’s Lviv province willing to support Vietnamese investors
At the meeting (Photo: VNA) Moscow (VNA) – Authorities of the Ukrainian province of Lviv will create favourable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest in and do business here, stated head of Lviv Regional State Administration Markiyan Malsky. On behalf of local leaders, Malsky made his statement while meeting a delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine, led by Ambassador Nguyen Anh Tuan. The delegation visited the province at Malsky’s invitation last week to seek business opportunities for Vietnamese firms. The meeting was also attended by Head of the Lviv Regional Council Oleksandr Ganushchy; Vyacheslav Voynarovskiy, representative of the Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lviv; and representatives of local departments and sectors. 3 Vietnamese cities among world’s most visited destinations
Both Vietnam’s southern metropolis and the capital Hanoi climbed up one place from last year to 31st and 52nd respectively in the annual Top City Destinations Ranking report, released Thursday by the U.K.-based global business intelligence firm Euromonitor International. Da Nang, the country’s third largest city after HCMC and Hanoi, jumped six places from last year to 90th in the list, which ranked over 400 cities around the world based on the number of international tourist arrivals. The report said HCMC received 7.2 million foreign tourist arrivals last year and is expected to welcome 8.2 million this year, up 14 percent from a year ago. Hanoi received 4.6 million foreign tourists in 2018 and expects 5.1 million arrivals this year, a year-on-year rise of 9.5 percent.
