Việt Nam attracts more than $14 billion of FDI in H1

MPI’s data showed that as of June 20, 2022, the total newly registered capital, adjusted and contributed capital to buy shares, buy contributed capital of foreign investors reached $14.03 billion, as much as 91.1 per cent over the same period in 2021. Of which, 752 new projects were granted investment registration certificates, down 6.5 per cent compared to the same period, with a total registered capital of over $4.94 billion, down 48.2 per cent over the same period. New businesses formation hits record high in H1

The positive business environment is conducive to the reinstatement of nearly 41,000 enterprises, a whopping 55.6% increase year-on-year and nearly double the average figure in the previous five years. The number of newly-established enterprises in the first six months of 2022 hit a record high of over 76,200, representing an increase of 13.6% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI). Photo: Pham Hung This resulted in over VND882.1 trillion (US$38 billion) of registered capital being injected into the economy in the six-month period, a 1.2-fold increase against the average in the 2017-2021 period. According to the MPI’s report, major economic hubs such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City witnessed a surge in the number of  business creations, with Hanoi posting 14,630 new businesses, up 9.8% year-on-year, and Ho Chi Minh City of 22,470, up 11.5%. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - There were 76,233 newly-registered enterprises in the first six months of this year, an increase of 13.6% compared to the same period last year. This is the first time that the number of newly-established enterprises in the first six months has exceeded 70,000. Data from the Business Registration Management Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment showed that 116,900 enterprises were entering or re-entering the market in the first half of 2022. In terms of capital, although it declined by 6.4% over the same period last year, with a value of 882.1 trillion VND (37.92 billion USD), it was still 1.2 times higher than the average for 2017-2021.
