Germany state conditions to accept Vietnam’s new passport
The decision, announced on the German Embassy’s website, takes immediate effect, but will only apply for "a transitional period" with the expectation that Vietnam will soon take necessary measures to add the place of birth to all passports. "This decision was made to facilitate convenient and safe travel between Vietnam and Germany," said the statement. The German Embassy also said the issuance of long-term residence visas will be paused until a new decision is made. The Vietnamese Embassy in Germany said on Monday that the German Foreign Ministry would issue a visa for a new model passport of Vietnam that has included place of birth. Earlier, Germany, Spain, Finland and the Czech Republic rejected the new Vietnamese passport because it does not show the place of birth of the holder. Vietnam sees rise in Covid-19 infections and deaths
Vietnam has seen a recent rise in the number of Covid-19 infections and deaths due to the appearance of new Omicron sub-variants. On Thursday, Vietnam recorded 3,295 Covid-19 cases, the highest figure for the past three months. The country also reported a total of around 15,000 Covid-19 infections over the past three days. The number of Covid-19 patients with serious symptoms in the country increased to 208. Over the past week, Vietnam has witnessed seven Covid-19 deaths. Vietnam reports nearly 3,000 more Covid-19 cases on Friday
An additional 2,983 more Covid-19 infections were confirmed in Vietnam on Friday, raising the country's total tally to over 11 million, according to the Ministry of Health. A Covid-19 patient is being treated at a hospital in Hanoi According to the ministry's report, the national caseload has so far increased to 11,379,554. On August 19, an additional 6,975 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 10.05 million. On Friday evening, no deaths from Covid-19 were recorded, the country's total fatalities stayed at 43,103, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections. In Vietnam, since the beginning of this year, natural disasters have been increasingly irregular, with unseasonal rains and flooding accompanied by thunder storms , strong winds and storms. From March 30 to April 2, heavy rain in the central region caused widespread damage, especially to agricultural production.
