Frenchman Thomas and Thai girlfriend Araya had big plans for Vietnam. Their first visit to the country in August had impressed them so much that they wanted to return for a much longer trip. The first trip happened after they’d traveled from France to Bangkok to visit Araya's parents. As they socialized with Vietnamese people and learnt about different places in the country, they regretted not visiting Vietnam sooner. After the trip, Thomas researched more information about other travel destinations in Vietnam. Fond of motorbikes, he planned to enjoy exploring the northern mountains on one, apart from a leisure trip to Nha Trang, a resort town in central Vietnam, and Ho Chi Minh City for Araya. Vietnam promises change after asked to ease visa policy for Australian, US citizens
Business groups from Australia, Japan and the US in Vietnam have asked the government to ease its visa policy for their business persons, local media reported. Currently, the US government grant Vietnamese citizens who travel to the country for business and pleasure multi-entry 12-month visas. But, the treatment could be changed to match … [Read more...] about Vietnam promises change after asked to ease visa policy for Australian, US citizens

China’s deployment of a giant US$-1billion oil rig in Vietnamese waters on May 2 triggered peaceful anti-China protests that erupted into violence in central and southern Vietnam two weeks later. Extremists torched, looted and vandalized foreign-owned factories. Taiwanese businesses, mistaken for being Chinese, suffered the most. Despite “significant growth” in visitor arrivals in the first four months of this year, the riots reversed the trend, according to the findings of a midterm report presented last week in Hanoi by the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF)--a consortium of international and local business associations and chambers of commerce. Hotels have seen many tour operators cancel trips through the end of … [Read more...] about Struggling businesses urge Vietnam to expand visa waiver to lure back tourists
