Vietnam, Hungary to sign new parliamentary cooperation agreement
Hungary was the first European Union state to approve the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA). Vietnam and Hungary are expected to sign an agreement on cooperation between the two parliaments in replacement of the one inked in 2008. Vietnam’s exports to Hungary on the rise

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has recorded impressive growth in exports to Hungary in recent years, statistics showed. Exports from Vietnam to Hungary increased eight-fold to 1 billion USD in 2020 from 124.2 million USD in 2016. The figure stood at 842.7 million USD in the first 10 months of 2021, up 5% year on year, according to data from the European country. Though shipments of agricultural and food products remain modest, the revenue posted a strong increase in the recent past as seen in some key exports. Vietnam exported almost 4.4 million USD worth of processed coffee to Hungary in 2020, surging 38-fold from four years earlier, and 7.13 million USD during January - October of 2021, up 85.6% year on year. Penny Wong arrives in Hanoi, affirming new Australian cabinet relations with Vietnam
The Australian top diplomat said the ties between the countries run deep. Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong today [June 27] met with Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son in Hanoi as part of her three-day visit to affirm the new Australian government’s commitments to continue the Strategic Partnership with Vietnam. Da Nang residents try out digital payment methods at cashless fair
The Cashless Ride program, as a part of this year’s Cashless Day, organized a fair in Da Nang City, central Vietnam on Sunday to introduce digital payment methods to local residents. The event attracted many residents and tourists, especially young people. Participants had an opportunity to experience cashless payment technologies as well as play games and win prizes offered by the program’s partners, namely NAPAS, Sacombank, MBBank, HDBank, VNPT Money, SHB, and Nam A Bank. The fair was an activity organized by the Cashless Ride, one of the programs within the framework of this year’s Cashless Day. The day has been marked annually on June 16 since 2019 by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper and the State Bank of Vietnam. Reciprocating her sentiment, her Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son welcomed Wong’s choice of Vietnam as her first Southeast Asian destination since taking office last month. He said her visit would strengthen and boost bilateral relations. Wong will conclude her official visit to Vietnam on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. Vietnam’s economy expects strong recovery
In 2020-2021, despite being heavily affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, Vietnam’s GDP still maintained positive growth, mainly thanks to the growth of import-export and investment, especially foreign direct investment. In fact, a number of industries recovered strongly after the epidemic such as retail, personal goods, and pharmaceuticals, due to a good recovery in domestic demand. Construction industry pins hope in public investment, FDI and real estate to bounce back. Some industries showed good recovery reaching close to the pre-pandemic period, including transportation, warehousing, and forestry, while logistics sector is expected to be a bright spot in the coming years.
