Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tong Thi Phong, who has been on an official visit to Laos from April 23 to 25, presented the order to the embassy. Reporting on the embassy’s performances in the five years, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung said the embassy fulfilled all tasks assigned by the Party and State, including preparing for mutual visits by leaders of the two countries as well as ministries, sectors, organisations and localities. NDO/VNA – The Vietnamese Embassy along with other Vietnamese agencies in Laos have raised a fund worth US$2,300 in support of flood victims in the homeland. Minister-Counsellor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos Nguyen Thanh Tung handed over the donation to Tran Thanh Man, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, in Vientiane, Laos, on August 12. The fund aims to help people in northern mountainous provinces hit by the recent floods to promptly overcome the consequences that resulted from the natural disaster and stabilise their lives, Tung said. VFF President Man stated that the flooding has caused great human and property losses in the localities. The Vietnamese community in Laos will also be implementing a range of activities to assist the local flood victims at home. The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos and PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOil) on November 1st presented a kindergarten school to the administration in Do village, Bun Neua district, Phongsaly province, Laos. Located on an area of 400m2, the kindergarten school includes three classrooms for 80 students, a room for teachers and six toilets. The school is also equipped with 84 sets of desks and chairs, along with all necessary school stationery for three classrooms and six sets of outdoor play equipment. Total funding for the construction and equipment is over LAK800 million. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Kim Son, General Director of PVOil in Laos, said his company has done business in Laos for many years and he himself has had the opportunity to go to many provinces of Laos, so he clearly recognizes the difficulties of Lao people in remote areas, especially education facilities for children. A friendship golf tournament was held in Vientiane on January 23 by the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos to congratulate the success of the 11th National Party Congress and welcome the traditional lunar New Year Festival.
