IT Week 17 - Fair cum Exhibition and Traditional Activities The organising board of IT Week 17 has officially announced activities to be included in the event, which will take place in Hanoi-based Giang Vo Exhibition Center from October 29 to November 2. The annual will be co-organised by the Vietnam Association for Information Processing (VAIP), Hanoi Association for Information and Communication Technology (HANICT) and the Global Expo Vietnam Company. Photo contest launched to honour Vietnam’s roads and bridges
The event is co-organised by Vietnam Natural and Traditional Beauty Review, Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, National Traffic Safety Committee, and Directorate for Roads of Vietnam. Editor-in-chief of the Vietnam Natural and Traditional Beauty Review and deputy head of the organising board Luong Xuan Duc, said that the event aims to search for beautiful works on roads and bridges in the country, and to acknowledge the fundamental changes in traffic system development with national socio-economic progress, contributing to building patriotism through the beautiful stretches of roads and bridges. Vietnam customs officers puzzled by sex toys
The lack of regulations on sex toy imports has left Vietnam's customs officers confused as many such items have recently arrived in the country as gifts and personal luggage, news website VnExpress said Saturday. The Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department on Friday sent a statement on the problem to the Customs Control and Supervision division. The department said it has been puzzled on many occasions in processing the products, which are banned from import to Vietnam for commercial purposes, and could not decide how to categorize them or if they were illegal. Current regulations only ban harmful children's toys and sex toys do not fall in that category. They are not among prohibited health or cultural product imports either, the department noted. The government in 2009 also issued a ban on cultural activities that promote obscene and debauched lifestyle or go against traditions, but it did not specify whether sex toys would fall under this category or not, the statement said. Vietnam-Customs Union FTA negotiation concludes
(VOVworld)- Vietnam and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan signed a joint statement Monday announcing the conclusion of negotiations on their free trade agreement (FTA). Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung witnessed the signing of the statement in the southern province of Kien Giang by Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and Minister for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrey Slepnev. FTA talks began on March 28, 2013. After eight rounds of negotiation and several mid-term technical discussions, the two sides basically agreed on the main contents of the agreement’s wide scope and high-level commitments ensuring mutual benefit while taking into consideration each side’s specific conditions.
