Vietnam celebration spills out into the streets

TRH The Danish Crown Prince Couple will pay an official visit to Vietnam this November to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and promote green solutions. TRH The Crown Prince and Crown Princess and the accompanying Danish business delegation will arrive in Hanoi on November 1 on a two-day visit where they will meet with local business people and official representatives, participate in debates on green transition and visit local energy projects. The visit is also part of celebrating the 50-year anniversary for Danish-Vietnamese diplomatic relations. Denmark and Vietnam share a close bilateral relationship. On energy, Denmark and Danish businesses are supporting Vietnam’s green transition. The close bilateral relationship is illustrated by a Comprehensive Partnership Agreement from 2013. More than 4,000 participants took part in the 2022 Ben Tre Marathon in Ben Tre Province, located in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, last weekend. The race was one of the activities held to celebrate the 200th birthday of Vietnamese poet Nguyen Dinh Chieu and his UNESCO recognition as a World Cultural Celebrity, as well as part of the provincial traditional cultural festival. In addition to competition expertise, the tournament was meant to promote the development of tourism in Ben Tre among local and international sports lovers. Police in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam confirmed they had apprehended seven suspects involved in the shooting death of a teenage boy on a street earlier this week. The victim was 17-year-old Phan Le Thanh Sang, a resident of Bien Hoa City, which is Dong Nai's capital, the provincial Department of Public Security stated. Preliminary information showed that Sang was riding his motorbike on Nguyen Ai Quoc Street in Tan Tien Ward, Bien Hoa at around 1:00 am on Monday when he suddenly collapsed on the road. He was rushed to the hospital with multiple wounds suspected to be caused by gunshots. The victim eventually succumbed to his injuries at the infirmary. The Dong Nai Department of Public Security later coordinated with the provincial People's Procuracy in examining Sang’s body and concluded that he suffered multiple gunshot wounds in his chest. On Monday, more than 55 chefs divided into 11 teams participated in an event to process hundreds of coconut-based delicacies in Ben Tre to set a world record in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Vietnamese cultural celebrity Nguyen Dinh Chieu (1822-1888), whose hometown was Ben Tre. The delicacies are made from different parts of the coconut tree, including coconut palm heart, shredded coconut, desiccated coconut, coconut milk, coconut water and sprouted coconut. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi, vice chairwoman of Ben Tre, said this was a great pride of Ben Tre people and the world record helps to promote its culture and tourism image to international visitors. Currently, Ben Tre is well known as Vietnam's coconut capital and has more than 200,000 families growing coconuts, accounting for about two thirds of the total number of households in the province. According to the city’s Department of Tourism , the event aims to revive tourism activities after a period of crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some 160 domestic and international dancers in colorful costumes join the parade moving along the city streets in a festive atmosphere. The carnival takes place from 7.30pm to 9.30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays until July 24, except for July 9, with ten parade cars decorated with replicas of Da Nang’s famous tourist attractions, departing from Tran Thi Ly Bridge to APEC park on the west end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge and arriving at a square on Bach Dang Street.
