Touristy Ha Long City in the northern province of Quang Ninh has been chosen as one of the 12 destinations to host the ongoing 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam. Aside from its world-famous Ha Long Bay, the city offers visitors a wide range of experiences including museums, beaches, aerial tours, and more. Inaugurated in October 2013, the Quang Ninh Museum has quickly become a must-see attraction for visitors to Ha Long City. The 15,000-square-meter museum boasts more than 6,000 artifacts, documents, and images about Quang Ninh displayed throughout its two exhibition blocks and garden. The venue is open to visitors from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm from Tuesday to Sunday. Tickets fetch VND10,000-30,000 (US$0.43-1.29). The two teams (number 1 and 2) of the Philippines both got a 2-0 win over Singapore to grab the overall win in the curtain-raiser of the men’s division. Thailand had to edge out Malaysia 2-1 in the conclusive third match to ink their first win in the qualifying round. Vietnam lead Group A in women’s football at SEA Games after crushing Cambodia
Vietnam became the leaders of Group A in women's football at the ongoing 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games after scoring a 7-0 victory over Cambodia on Saturday evening. Vietnam's coach Nguyen Duc Chung benched many key players and deployed his reserve line-up in the match against Cambodia at Cam Pha Stadium in northern Quang Ninh Province. However, the Vietnamese women still managed to overpower their opponents. In more than 90 minutes, the Cambodian visitors could barely get the ball onto Vietnam’s field. Nguyen Thi Van opened the scoring for Vietnam with an accurate header in the sixth minute. Although Vietnam had many good chances to widen the gap, no more goals were netted in the remaining time of the first half. Vietnam defeat Timor Leste to advance to SEA Games men’s football semis as group leaders
Vietnam are ranking first in Group A of men’s football at the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games after defeating Timor Leste 2-0 in their last group-stage match in northern Phu Tho Province on Sunday evening. As Vietnam had already secured a spot in the semifinals, coach Park Hang Seo decided to deploy his reserve line-up in this game. Despite having the advantage over Timor Leste, the Golden Stars were unable to net any goal in the first half. Nguyen Van Tung opened the scoring for Vietnam in the 53rd minute with an accurate header following a pass from Le Van Do. Timor Leste boosted their offensive and were able to strike Vietnam’s net in the 56th minute, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Thai group visits Vietnam’s Phu Quoc, promises to bring tourists to ‘pearl island’
A Thai familiarization trip (fam trip) group visited Phu Quoc Island, off Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam, for a survey tour earlier this week as a preparation for bringing more Thai travelers to the offshore island city, commonly known as the ‘pearl island.’ Some 30 members of the group started their three-day tour of Phu Quoc on Wednesday with a welcome from the provincial Department of Tourism, Kien Giang Tourism Association, and local travel firms. “This is the first Thai tourist group that has visited Phu Quoc since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit Vietnam in early 2020,” said Nguyen Chi Thanh, deputy director of the Kien Giang Department of Tourism. SEA Games 31: Vietnam bags first gold medal in Duathlon

(Photo: VNA) Quang Ninh – Athlete Pham Tien San won the first gold medal in Duathlon for Vietnam at the 31st SEA Games on May 15 on Tuan Chau beach in the northern province of Quang Ninh. San finished first in the competition with a time of 1:55:58. Ferbriade Rudi and Johan Jauhari, both of Indonesia, secured the silver and bronze medals a time of 1:56:12 and 1:57: 36, respectively. 31-year-old San had won three silver medals at SEA Games held in 2013, 2015 and 2017. Thirteen male athletes from seven regional countries took part in the event. The Duathlon event at SEA Games 31 has two sets of medals for men's and women's individual events. Athletes compete in a 10km run, 40km cycling and 5km run. SEA Games 31, themed “For a Stronger South East Asia”, is being held in the capital and 11 neighbouring provinces and cities until May 23. Vietnam State Securities Commission fines Hoang Anh Gia Lai for not reporting subsidiary’s stock trading
The State Securities Commission of Vietnam has fined local conglomerate Hoang Anh Gia Lai VND3 billion (US$129,400) fine for failing to report the trade of its subsidiary’s stocks. Aside from the fine, the State Securities Commission has suspended Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) JSC from securities trading for five months. Previous reports showed that Hoang Anh Gia Lai Agricultural JSC, a subsidiary of HAGL, had used its HNG stocks to guarantee bond issuance of a member company at a credit institution. Due to the overdue interest on this bond, the credit institution sold 20 million HNG stocks on January 7 and another 5.4 million on January 10 on HAGL’s securities account to recover the debt. However, HAGL did not report in advance the trade of these stocks in accordance with regulations. The Vietnamese Sepak Takraw players are expected to win the gold medal at the 31st SEA Games. Sepak Takraw is considered one of the spearhead sports of the Vietnam SEA Games delegation, with many medal winners at SEA Games and Asiad. In the days leading up to SEA Games 31, athletes from Vietnam Sepak Takraw are training hard to get in shape for the event. Twelve male and 12 female players will compete in four men’s and four women’s events, eyeing at least one gold medal in the female category at SEA Games 31. The male players are actively doing exercises at the venue to familiarize themselves with the terrain. They are expected to achieve high results at SEA Games 31 in the team category.
