The rankings are based on studies of multiple financial factors, corporate reputation on the media and surveys of experts in the industry. According to the report, 73.9 percent of asked companies said they believed 2020 would be a difficult year while 13 percent were optimistic that the construction and building material industry would see growth this year. Some 4.3 percent said that the industry would maintain stability compared to 2019. Notably, about 8.7 percent of the respondents said it is likely that the real estate market would experience slowdown in the first half of the year and make a comeback in the second half as the COVID-19 pandemic is brought under control. Over 6.4 million poor, near-poor households get preferential loans
Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) said it is providing loans for 6.4 million poor and near-poor households. As of the end of 2020, the bank’s total credit balance stood at 226.19 trillion VND (9.86 billion USD), a year-on-year rise of 9.4 percent. Its loans have generated jobs for more than 361,000 labourers at home, and supported over 5,200 guest workers, along with nearly 44,600 disadvantaged students. Around 200 businesses have accessed the loans to ensure wages for more than 8,500 employees affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The capital has also contributed to the building of 1.3 million water supply and hygiene facilities in rural areas, and thousands of houses for poor households, the bank said. Covid-19 forces travel firms to undergo restructuring
Because of Covid-19, 90-95 percent of travel firms have suspended operation and 338 firms no longer have licenses. International travel firms have shifted to provide domestic travel services. Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said the tourism industry witnessed thousands of businesses dissolve and stop operation last year.
