A: What has the Ministry of Planning and Investment advised the Government regarding the private sector? Q: The 5th Resolution of the 12th Party Central Committee considers the private sector an important driving force in the national economy. More recently, the Government has listed the task as an important motivation for the nation to advance in 2019. To achieve this goal, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has advised the Government to issue Resolution 02 on the improvement of the investment environment and slash many more business conditions. Thong Nhat Match JSC to stop producing matchboxes

Thong Nhat Match JSC, one of the oldest companies in Vietnam, announced that they will stop producing matches and matchboxes due to low demands. Thong Nhat matchboxes The decision was announced at a recent irregular meeting of shareholders. After 60 years of operations, the company will stop all match production from 2020 and delist from UPCoM. The financial reserve fund will be used to support the workforce. Matches have lost their market as technology develops. The main materials used to make matchboxes are woods, paper and different chemical substances. The company has to import the chemicals from overseas and has to face difficulties from changing global prices. In 2018, Thong Nhat Match JSC sold 98 million matchboxes, much lower than 180 million boxes from 10 years ago. Last year, they produced 112 tonnes of matches, a decrease of 20% compared to 2017. Not only being locally consumed, these products are also exported to China, where TH has become the first Vietnamese enterprise to be allowed by China’s authorised agencies to export fresh milk products into this gigantic market with a population of 1.4 billion people. Under a protocol signed in April between Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and China’s General Administration of Customs on veterinary and health requirements for dairy products to be exported, TH Group has met all strict requirements and conditions set by China. Prudential and JA Vietnam implement Cha-Ching Curriculum across Hanoi

The signing ceremony was held in Hanoi under the witness of the Ministry of Education and Training Based on the globally-recognised and award-winning financial literacy programme Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids, the partnership with JA Vietnam is expected to benefit up to 7,336 children from 31 primary schools in Hanoi in the 2019-2020 academic year and will expand nationwide in the coming years. Building on the success of the Cha-Ching, Prudence Foundation has partnered with Junior Achievement Asia-Pacific in 2016 to develop an enhanced Cha-Ching Curriculum that supports teachers in instilling money-smart skills in students’ daily life. Since then, the curriculum has been actively implemented in public primary schools for Grade 4 students by teachers in eight markets: the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
