On August 12, an additional 5,897 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 10.00 million. On Friday evening, one death from Covid-19 was recorded, raising the country's total fatalities to 43,096, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections. Progress in research, clinical trials of domestic COVID-19 vaccines updated
There are five vaccines being in the research and clinical trial process, namely Nanocovax, COVIVAC, ARCT-154, COVID-19 HIPRA and S-268019, the ministry said, adding the research is being conducted on schedule and in line with contents of the research plans approved by the ministry. The work is expected to complete in December next year. As of August 11, Vietnam received 253,071,094 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, including 234,636,494 for the people aged 12 and above, and 18,434,600 for children aged between 5-11. So far, as many as 249,778,892 doses have been administered to people nationwide, with 100% of people aged over 18 years old; and from 12 to under 18 getting the first and second injections. The vaccination rate of 3rd and 4th shots in the over-18-year-old group reached 73.9% and 57.4%, respectively. The event was co-held by Commander of the Vietnam Border Guard Command Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai and Chief of the General Department of Defense Industry Lieutenant General Ho Quang Tuan. Over the past years, the General Department of Defense Industry’s affiliated units have produced equipment to meet all demands of the border troops’ task implementation in border areas and at sea. Since 2007, the general department has directed and instructed its shipyards to build a number of ships and boats for the border guard force. Meanwhile, the shipyards have actively worked with clients under the Vietnam Border Guard Command in repairing several patrol boats of the force. The Vietnam Employment Outlook Survey Q3 & Q4 2022 by recruitment company ManpowerGroup Vietnam said 88% of enterprises plan to expand or at least maintain their payroll in the second half of the year. The manufacturing, wholesale, retail, banking-finance, and professional consulting sectors expressed the greatest desire to expand. The survey focused on mid-career jobs and found nearly half of enterprises plan to hire people with at least six months’ experience. "The Vietnamese labor market is, from our perspective, bustling," Nguyen Xuan Son, ManpowerGroup Vietnam acting country operations manager, staffing and outsourcing services, said. Power shortage worries increase hunger for coal
Cao Son Coal, the company with the largest mining output in Vietnam, on July 19 announced to improve and expand the capacity of the Cao Son coal mine in Cam Pha in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh, to meet high production requirements. Coal mining companies are increasing output to deal with power generation shortages, Le Toan The mine has total reserves of almost 52 million tonnes, with a designed capacity of about 4.5 million tonnes per year. By upgrading the reserves, Cao Son’s coal mine is expected to complete a record high mining output of 6.78 million tonnes in 2022. Phan Quoc Viet, director of Cao Son Coal, said, “We have mobilised equipment to maximise the exploitation of raw coal at the Cao Son mine.
