Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Thanh Hoa province and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union of Houaphanh province will enhance teaching for youths of both sides about the traditional Vietnam – Laos friendship and the special ties between their people and the youth unions. Vietnamese basketball player to represent Asia in world youth tournament
She was also the first Vietnamese in the top 10 of the Jr. NBA selection camp in the Asia Pacific region, which helped her qualify for the worldwide program that will take place from August 6 to 11 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, the U.S. To make the cut, she had to go to the Asia Pacific regional selection camp in mid-June in Jakarta, Indonesia, which featured 34 boys and 34 girls from 10 countries - Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. The camp focused on developing technical and tactical skills and five-on-five competitions. Ten boys and girls each were chosen to represent the Jr. NBA Global Championship. Of the 10 Vietnamese who went to the camp, Linh was the only one chosen after finishing sixth. A high school student in Gia Lai Province has set up 15 charity projects to help students from low-income families. Le Van Phuc Le Van Phuc, a 12th grader at Hung Vuong High School, is leading the Fly to Sky Charity Club. Phuc has had outstanding academic achievements. He has been an outstanding student for eleven academic years and won third prize at provincial and national geography competitions. He was also selected to attend the 8th Vietnam Youth Union National Congress. "I have loved geography since I was in 10th grade. I started reading more books about it which helped me a lot during the competitions," he said. "I have never stopped reading books and online. Continuous learning has expanded my vision and I have also visited authors to learn more." Phuc will be admitted to the university after winning third prize in the national geography competition. Shoppers wait in long queues during grand opening of Vietnam’s first Uniqlo store
Shoppers have had to wait for at least an hour to enter Vietnam’s first-ever store of famous Japanese apparel retailer Uniqlo following its grand opening in downtown Ho Chi Minh City on Friday. Uniqlo Dong Khoi, located at the Parkson Saigon Tourist Plaza on the corner of Le Thanh Ton and Dong Khoi Streets in District 1, was officially open on Friday morning. The three-story store, which covers a total area of more than 3,000 square meters, welcomed over 2,000 guests on its first day, according to a Uniqlo representative. The number of customers appeared to be even larger on Saturday. According to a local motorbike taxi driver, the waiting line nearly doubled that on Friday. National volunteer day 2019 held in Hanoi
Volunteers at the event (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - National Volunteer Day 2019 was held in Hanoi on December 8 as part of activities in response to International Volunteer Day (December 5). Permanent Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Central Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan said the event aims to promote pioneering and volunteering movements among young people in order to support socio-economic development in the community. Tuan reviewed a wide range of voluntary activities within the framework of the summer youth volunteer campaign, launched nationwide in 2000 by the Standing Board of the HCYU Central Committee. During the last two decades, over 50,000 classes on illiteracy elimination were organised for over 450,000 people.
