The old Mien Dong (Eastern) Coach Station is more crowded than the new coach station. Currently, the coach station is serving routes from Quang Tri Province to the Northern localities with a distance of over 1,000 kilometers facing high competition with airplanes. From the start of 2022, authorities in Lâm Đồng have seized seven illegal sand mining vessels on the Đồng Nai River, dealt with eight cases of violations in construction in sand mining, and issued a total of VNĐ279 million (US$12,276) of fines. Hoang Van Linh, a resident of Cai Lay District of Tien Giang Province, said his garden is full of ripe jackfruits, but traders simply are not interested. Linh has resorted to giving the harvest to family and friends. He switched from growing durians to jackfruits in 2016 when saltwater intrusion began affecting his growing operation.
