Hanoi (VNA) – The National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (Napas) and seven domestic banks recently launched domestic credit chip cards with unified standards to promote cashless payments and tackle black credit. The seven banks are Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank), Ban Viet Joint Stock Commercial Bank (Viet Capital Bank), Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), HCM City Housing Development Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HDB), Bao Viet Bank (BVB), Sai Gon Thuong Tin (Sacombank) and Vietnam Thuong Tin (Vietbank). The cards will be accepted at more than 235,300 points of sale and 14,380 ATMs nationwide. Cardholders can also withdraw cash at ATMs of Napas’ partners in the Republic of Korea and ASEAN countries of Thailand and Malaysia. Cardholders will be given an interest-free period of up to 55 days compared to the typical 45 days. Czech parliamentarian believes CPV to lead Vietnam to new successes
Prague (VNA) – The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) will lead Vietnam to new successes, with the successful organisation of the 13th National Party Congress and the approval of orientations for a new period, said Leo Luzar, President of the Czech Republic-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group. Talking to Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Prague, Luzar, who is a member of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM), said that the CPV’s 13th congress is a big event drawing attention of the Czech Republic in general and the KSČM in particular. First 60 tons of Vietnamese rice enter UK under UKVFTA
The UK is imposing an import tariff of 17.4 percent on fragrant rice. However, according to the UKVFTA, high-quality Vietnamese fragrant rice imported into the UK market enjoys import tax exemption, making Vietnamese rice more competitive than those produced by other countries, such as Thailand. According to the forecast by Mr. Nguyen Canh Cuong, Vietnamese Trade Counselor in the UK, thanks to the UKVFTA, high-quality Vietnamese fragrant rice exports to the UK market this year will climb ten times higher compared to last year. The batch of 60 tons of premium fragrant rice imported by Vinaseed's Long Dan Company in the UK is now available for sale at its supermarket chain with a retail price of 15.5 pounds per 10 kilograms or VND465,000 per 10 kilograms. According to VNA, in 2019, the UK imported more than 671,000 tons of rice, worth US$531 million, ranking ninth among the ten largest rice importers in the world.
