Malaysian medical tourism attracts Vietnamese Le Hoang HCMC - More and more Vietnamese are traveling to Malaysia for medical tourism, which prompts the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council to prop up publicity here in Vietnam. Sherene Azura Azli, CEO of the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council, or Malaysia Healthcare, said nearly 10,000 Vietnamese traveled to Malaysia for medical treatment in 2016 and they spent RM10.8 million (about US$2.43 million) on this purpose, up 86% against 2015. About 50% of the Vietnamese patients visit Malaysian hospitals for cancer and cardiovascular disease treatment, she said at the launching ceremony of the website YTE Malaysia on Tuesday. The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu has eight tourism sites, particularly ecotourism and spiritual and cultural tourism. The wind-power site has become more and more popular. The wind farm has hundreds of wind turbines. Ghositaram Pagoda, the most beautiful Khmer pagoda in the southwest region was built in 1860. The pagoda is designed with decorations and patterns featuring the Buddha's life and cultures and beliefs of Khmer people. The century-old longan garden is also among the province's tourism attractions. It covers 230 hectares in Hiep Thanh and Vinh Trach Dong communes, in Bac Lieu city. The Bac Lieu Bird Garden in Hiep Thanh commune was recognised as a nature reserve in 1986 Birds gather in the garden during rainy season from May to Octorber. The Hanoitimes - Representatives of ten international sponsors met at the seminar held in Hanoi on January 28 to discuss their coordination to support responsible tourism in Vietnam. The EU-funded capacity development programme for environmentally and socially responsible tourism in Vietnam (EU-ESRT) aims to help promoting Vietnam's tourism in order to attract funding and international technical assistance in the coming period. The meeting provided an opportunity for effective coordination among these groups. According to Chairman of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Van Tuan, strong assistance from international and regional organisations, particularly effective technical support from the EU, has stimulated the development and progress of the local tourism industry. There is a primeval forest with century old trees which is called with respect by local people “Forest of the General” as it is connected closely with General Vo Nguyen Giap who led the Dien Bien Phu Campaign to the world shaking victory. The forest is where the General Headquarters of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign was located and now becomes a destination for those who want to come to see the vestiges of the battlefield. The historical relic site of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign Headquarters is located in Muong Phang commune, Dien Bien district, around 40 km from Dien Bien Phu town.
