Hanoi develops green agriculture
Green agriculture is a closed production process through applying scientific and technical advances, biotechnology and physicochemical technology. Green agriculture is a sustainable direction that Hanoi has been making effort to develop, according to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Manh Phuong. Green agriculture is an inevitable orientation of modern agriculture, Phuong said, adding that Hanoi has recently switched more than 40,227 hectares of rice land to new agricultural production models. East Vietnam Sea hit by first tropical storm of 2022
A tropical depression in the East Vietnam Sea developed into a storm on Thursday morning, marking the first tropical storm to hit the Southeast Asian country this year. The storm, named Chaba, was located 400 kilometers east of Vietnam's Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago at 10:00 am on Thursday, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting. The average wind speed was recorded at 62-74km per hour, and gusts were up to 100km an hour. Storm Chaba is expected to travel northwest in the next 48 hours. As of 10:00 am on Saturday, the storm will be situated 120 kilometers northeast of China’s Hainan Island, packing winds at 62-88km per hour. Due to the influence of the storm, rough seas, strong winds, and waves as high as three to five meters will occur in the northern part of the East Vietnam Sea. Vietnam’s African swine fever vaccine to be widely used by late 2022
The vaccination is expected to be carried out in Vietnam from July to the end of this year. The made-in-Vietnam African swine fever vaccine will be likely used on a large scale by the end of 2022, according to Nguyen Van Long, acting director of the Department of Animal Health under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Long said that the vaccine was branded NAVET-ASFVAC and is produced by NAVETCO National Veterinary Joint Stock Company. Over 50 farms in ten provinces and cities nationwide have been selected to administer 600,000 doses of vaccine against African swine fever. It is expected that vaccination will be carried out from July to the end of the year, Long noted, adding that there will be an assessment for the vaccine application and a decision on widespread use will be considered.
