A total of 124 pictures of famous and lesser-known attractions in Thailand are being showcased at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, a contemporary arts center known for its burgeoning art scene and a wide range of contemporary art, design, music, theatre, and film. The 124 pictures were among the best entries of the “Amazing Thailand” photo contest organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand. Thirteen of them won awards from Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha. There were more than 10,000 entries in the competition. Vietnam among Top 10 favourite tourist attractions of Chinese
Vietnam ranked seventh among the destinations favoured by Chinese tourists, with more than 600,000 arrivals to the country in the second quarter of 2016. The China National Tourism Administration has revealed the list of the most favoured tourist attractions of Chinese holidaymakers in the second quarter of the year. Accordingly, Thailand topped the list with nearly 2.4 million arrivals, and was followed by the Republic of Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau (China). Meanwhile, if regarding Southeast Asia, Vietnam only followed Thailand on the list. Hanoi, Da Nang rank eighth among top tourist attractions Da Nang City. A leading online tourism magazine, Smart Travel Asia, has named Da Nang and Ha Noi among the Top 10 attractive destinations in the region this year. This is the second consecutive year that Viet Nam's two cities have won spots on the list. The criteria included the quality and responses to tourism products, trademarks and destinations. Da Nang, Ha Noi and Singapore all placed eighth on the list. Bali placed first. Thailand tourist murder suspects retract confessions
Two Myanmar men accused of killing two British backpackers on a Thai holiday island have retracted their confessions, their lawyers said on Wednesday, adding further confusion to an investigation that has attracted widespread criticism. The retractions also come amid growing diplomatic concern that the two accused may have been abused during interrogation. Thailand's human rights commission said it would launch an inquiry into allegations of police torture. The bodies of Hannah Witheridge, 23, and David Miller, 24, were discovered on Sept. 15 by cleaners on a beach on Koh Tao, an island in the south of Thailand famous for its diving. Post-mortem examinations showed both suffered severe head wounds and Witheridge was raped.
