Vietjet CEO is welcomed by many passengers at the airport. New-age carrier Vietjet’s president &CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao late January 30 arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport to check the airline’s operations in the days before the Lunar New Year. Accompanying Thao were two vice presidents To Viet Thang and Nguyen Duc Thinh. The check-up was carried out after Dinh Viet Thang, Director of Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), did the same thing at the airport and wished Vietjet staff and employees a happy new lunar year. In 2018, Vietjet carried 23.16 million passengers on more than 118,900 safe flights via 39 domestic and 66 international routes. Tan Son Nhat International Airport will have another terminal for domestic and international passengers. This is among contents of the airport’s expansion plan by 2030 approved by the Ministry of Transport recently. Tan Son Nhat International Airport The plan is expected to cost some VND18 trillion (USD775.4 million). The airport will be expanded to 791 hectares. Meanwhile, Terminal 3 with an annual capacity of 20 million passengers, will be built at the southern end of the airport, where the current domestic and international terminals of the airport are located. The terminal, constructed to meet international standards, is expected to serve 20 million passengers per year and increase the capacity of Tan Son Nhat International Airport to welcome 50 million passengers per year by 2025. Accordingly, a 200,000sq.m-wide passenger terminal capable of serving 20 million travelers will be constructed to the south of Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The northern area of the airport, including a golf resort and an area of 16ha managed by the Ministry of Defense will also be used for supporting facilities including a cargo terminal, aircraft repair station and logistics since 2025.
