At the mid-term review meeting (Photo: MPI) Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), in coordination with the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam and the Japan-Vietnam Economic Committee under the Japan Business Federation (KEIDANREN), held a mid-term review meeting for the Vietnam-Japan Joint Initiative (eighth phase) in Hanoi on July 5. It was reported at the meeting that 47 out of the total 80 sub-items in the joint initiative have been well implemented as scheduled so far, 15 are underway, six make no progress, and work will start on 12 others in the time ahead. Do Nhat Hoang, head of the Foreign Investment Agency under the MPI, said Vietnamese ministries and agencies have coordinated with the Japanese side to implement commitments in the action plan of the initiative. Around 85,088 students, including 73,877 students of high schools, 7,883 test-taker of continuing education centers and 3,328 freelance candidates will take part in the 2022 national high school graduation examination with 13,656 education officials, teachers and staff teachers to serve the exam. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the park held a workshop on July 5 to report consultation outcomes about building the 3D model with the engagement of the local community. Deputy Director of the park Do Quang Lap said with a ratio of 1:10,000, the 3.1m x 2m model reflects an area measuring 31km x 20km of the park’s core zone and part of its buffer zone. It will help improve knowledge about the potential of tourism products in and around the park and engage local residents in the development of new and sustainable community-based tourism products. The government in late March issued a decision to grant a financial support package of VND6.6 trillion ($287.4 million) to help migrant workers pay rent for up to three months. The package is to be given to 3.4 million people by mid-August. As approved by the government, each worker will receive VND500,000-1 million per month over no more than three months.
