More than 1,000 children and school students of Duy Hai Commune in the central province of Quang Nam have benefited from new educational facilities and an infrastructure donation worth VND4 billion (US$174,000) from Hoiana resort in the central province.
The donation, contributed by 4,800 golfers from golf tours in six months at the Hoiana Shore golf club, helped build a playground, bike park and soccer pitch at a kindergarten, a primary and junior secondary schools in Duy Hai Commune of Duy Xuyen District. It also helped provide computers.
Steve Wolstenholme, general manager of the Hoiana resort said the donation was part of contributions to the community to improve the educational environment for children in Quang Nam.
He said more than VND8.5 billion ($370,000) has been provided for medical equipment and face masks for communities in Dai Loc, Duy Xuyen and Thang Binh.
Hoiana, in co-operation with the province, has established a vocational education centre for human resources in hospitality, and 200 trainees from the centre have been employed by the Hoiana.
In 2019, a donation of 30 medical equipment and facilities for local patients and premature babies was handed over to medical centres of Duy Xuyen and Thang Binh districts by the VinaCapital Foundation and Hoiana.
In another community support activity in Quang Nam, more than 1,700 people, including 1,000 children, in flood-affected Nam Tra My District received free medical examination and healthcare from doctors of Hoan My Da Nang last week.
It’s the second free healthcare campaign doctors from the hospital have launched for local communities in the landslide and flood-hit mountainous area.
In January, 1,500 local people in the district were given healthcare and free drug deliveries from the hospital. — VNS
