Dong Nai contribute $111 mln to expressway linking with beach town Vung Tau
The sum, approved Tuesday by provincial legislators, is half of the total cost needed for clearing that section. Stretching almost 54 kilometers (33 miles), Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway will connect the southern industrial provinces of Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, which are home to several seaport logistics complexes. It will run 34.2 kilometers across Dong Nai. Ba Ria – Vung Tau, home to beach town Vung Tau, had previously agreed to pay VND670 billion, or half the cost to clear the provincial section site. The rest of the sum for site clearance will be extracted from the state budget. As approved, the expressway will cost around VND18 trillion of the public funds and be completed by 2025. In its first phase, the route will have four to six lanes and allow vehicles to travel at 100 kph. Pham Minh Hung, Director of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Department for Administrative Reforms, said the survey covered 19 ministries and sectors, excluding the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defence, and the Government Office. The Government’s Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs and the Government Inspectorate were assessed but not ranked. Meanwhile, all the 63 provinces and centrally-run cities were surveyed and ranked. Gov’t asks for extension to bad debt programme

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - The Government has asked for an extension to a pilot programme designed to handle bad debt from domestic financial institutions during a meeting of the National Assembly on May 24. The programme, issued under Government Decree 42 in 2017, was set to be extended until the end of 2023. The programme, since its implementation five years ago, has contributed to the restructuring of numerous financial institutions and the collection of bad debt during the 2016-2020 period, according to Nguyen Thi Hong, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV). By the end of 2021, the programme had helped handle over 380 trillion VND in bad debt, or 47.9 percent of the country's entire bad debt since August 15, 2017. With the current trading band of +/-3 percent, the ceiling rate applicable to commercial banks during the day is 23,796 VND/USD and the floor rate 22,409 VND/USD. The opening-hour rates at some commercial banks saw strong rises. At 8:30 am, Vietcombank listed the buying rate at 23,050 VND/USD, up 40 VND from May 24, and the selling rate at 23,360 VND/USD, up 50 VND. National Assembly greenlights extension of resolution on bad debt management
The validity extension of the resolution is of particular significance due to rising bad debts during the pandemic. The National Assembly’s Economic Committee has agreed with the Government’s proposal on extending the validity of resolution No.42 on pilot bad debt management until December 31, 2023. Defense senior officers get ranks promoted
Accordingly, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Ngo Minh Tien and Political Commissar of the National Defense Academy Luong Dinh Hong were promoted from the rank of Lieutenant General to Senior Lieutenant General. Ltd., has been authorised by the Drug Administration of Vietnam (DAV) for the domestic treatment of COVID-19. This is the fourth Molnupiravir-based drug produced in Vietnam to be authorised for use in the country. The DAV orders manufacturers to adhere to documents registered with the Ministry of Health; coordinate with treatment facilities to strictly comply with current regulations on prescription drugs, monitor the safety, effectiveness, and unwanted effects of drugs on Vietnamese people, as well as compile reports according to regulations.
