Four more vaccines to be added to Expanded Immunization Program

Four additional vaccines included in the program from 2022 are a vaccine against Rotavirus, a vaccine against pneumococcal disease from 2025, a vaccine against cervical cancer from 2026, and a vaccine against seasonal flu from 2030. In the resolution, the Government agreed with the Ministry of Health’s roadmap to increase the number of vaccines in the Expanded Immunization Program for the 2021-2030 period. According to the Ministry’s proposal, the vaccine against Rotavirus will be included in the program from 2022, a vaccine against pneumococcal disease in 2025, a vaccine against cervical cancer in 2026, and a vaccine against seasonal flu from 2030. The resolution clearly stated the scope and number of beneficiaries as proposed by the Ministry of Health. Additional 1,695 new Covid-19 cases confirmed on Monday

The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Monday reported an additional 1,695 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's total tally to over 11 million. Vietnam records 2,192 new COVID-19 cases on August 12

The new infections raised the country’s total caseload since the pandemic broke out to 11,362,540. A total 5,897 COVID-19 patients were given the all clear on the day, bringing the number of recoveries so far to 10,009,451. There are 116 patients in serious conditions needing breathing support . One death from COVID-19 was recorded in the past 24 hours. The total fatalities stood at 43,096. On the day, 630,923 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered, raising the total number of shots given out to 250,409,815. Many hospitals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have run out of beds as an increasing number of children have been infected with various respiratory diseases like COVID-19, influenza, bronchitis, and pneumonia. Nguyen Thanh Nam, director of the Pediatric Center of Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi, said that the facility has been providing treatment for about 130 young patients with respiratory diseases such as flu, nasopharyngitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia over the past month. Pandemic pushed millions more into poverty in the Philippines: govt

MANILA -- About 2.3 million people in the Philippines were pushed into poverty between 2018 and 2021, largely due to the economic downturn caused by the pandemic, the statistics agency said on Monday. The number of people living in poverty in 2021 rose to a total of almost 20 million or 18.1% of the population from 16.7% in 2018, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said, overshooting the government's target of 15.5%-17.5%. Recently inaugurated President Ferdinand Marcos Jr aims to slash the poverty rate to 9% by the end of his single six-year term in 2028 - a target that remains achievable despite soaring inflation, according to Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan. The department is calling on supermarkets and convenience stores to forecast market demand, closely coordinate with key suppliers to develop plans, and store and prepare abundant goods at stable prices. Markets should implement preferential discounts on key products and other essential commodities while sharing other costs to reduce the pressure of increasing retailing prices to consumers, the department said.
