Vietnam records 2,192 new COVID-19 cases on August 12

The new infections raised the country’s total caseload since the pandemic broke out to 11,362,540. A total 5,897 COVID-19 patients were given the all clear on the day, bringing the number of recoveries so far to 10,009,451. There are 116 patients in serious conditions needing breathing support . One death from COVID-19 was recorded in the past 24 hours. The total fatalities stood at 43,096. On the day, 630,923 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered, raising the total number of shots given out to 250,409,815. Credit institutions to provide customer information to tax authorities

SBV proposes credit institutions follow Government decrees on keeping secret and providing customer information of credit institutions, foreign bank branches and circulars and guiding documents of the Ministry of Finance on providing information and coordinating with tax administration agencies. The letter lists several legal provisions: The Law on Tax Administration 2019, Clause 2, Article 27 stipulates the duties and powers of commercial banks in providing information on account numbers according to taxpayers' tax identification numbers when opening an account. HCM City seeks to manage stable prices, supply and demand of food

The department is calling on supermarkets and convenience stores to forecast market demand, closely coordinate with key suppliers to develop plans, and store and prepare abundant goods at stable prices. Markets should implement preferential discounts on key products and other essential commodities while sharing other costs to reduce the pressure of increasing retailing prices to consumers, the department said. When there are signs of scarcity of goods or lack of supply in the system, it is recommended that supermarkets and convenience stores report to relevant authorities for timely coordination, the department said.
