(Photo: VNA) HCM City (VNA) – A mobile application was launched by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources of Ho Chi Minh City on June 21 to teach people how to classify solid waste at home. The app can be downloaded to smartphones from the Play Store for Android users and the App Store for iOS users. It instructs people to dump all biodegradable organic waste like leftover tea, coffee, leftover and expired foods and more into a labelled blue bag before it is collected. This waste will be processed into compost. Waste like old magazines, books, paper, plastic or rubber products, metalware and glassware should be classified to be reused or recycled. Viet Nam News HCM CITY — A mobile application to provide people information about solid waste classification at source was unveiled in HCM City on June 21. The app, “Phân loại chất thải rắn tại nguồn” (Solid waste classification at source) has been created by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DONRE) and the Việt Nam Post and Telecommunications Group. The helpful sorting tool offers users helpful tips on how to separate various types of untreated solid wastes through images, videos and text. It also shows the process of solid waste collection, how to categorise the waste based on recycling labels and a list of solid waste types. In 2017, it decided to carry out the investment project in a solid waste treatment complex based on public–private partnership, in which ADB is responsible for organizing bidding and choosing an adequate investor. The project aims to put suitable waste treatment technology into use, in order to take advantage of waste resources and reduce environmental pollution.
