At the opening ceremony of the centre (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – A smart education centre was inaugurated in the northern port city of Hai Phong on August 3 with the support of the education department of the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Gyeongsangnam province. The project forms part of a two-phase cooperation programme between the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and the Korean department, with the first phase from 2009 to 2019, and the second for 2020-2024. Under the second phase, the Korean side will continue to help with the building of the smart education centre in Hai Phong, and provide technical assistance, equipment and computers for vocational training and distance education centres in the central province of Nghe An and Hanoi’s Ha Dong district. Vietnam and RoK foster cooperation in education
The event was jointly held by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Education Department of Gyeongsangnam of the Republic of Korea (RoK), Representative Office of the Division of Overseas Koreans Education in Vietnam, APEC Cooperation Center on International Education, and the Hai Phong municipal People’s Committee. The smart education center is a project within a cooperation program jointly organized by Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training and the Gyeongsangnam provincial Education Department over 15 years. Vietnamese open to learning digital skills: survey

A report commissioned by VMware and conducted by Deloitte titled “Digital Smart: Advancing digital government for citizens in the Asia-Pacific" found that 85% of respondents in Vietnam are willing to learn new digital skills or use a new platform and 80% expect to access government services at the same rate or more frequently in the next five years. The research found that citizens of APAC member countries are more digitally engaged than ever, but governments still lag in the delivery of digital services. The study found that the use of in-person government services halved across APAC nations in the last two years, and 77% of citizens now primarily use a digital platform to access government services.
