The film Thu Thủy - A Dream of Ceramics was directed by Nguyễn Nghiêm Nhan from Việt Nam Television during 2006-17. Hanoi festival to honour short feature films
VietNamNet Bridge – The Wafm Short Feature Film Festival, themed ‘Stories of Youth’, will be held in Hanoi from October 23-26 by the Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents, under the Vietnam Cinematography Association, in collaboration with the Cinema Development Limited Company. The festival will introduce 17 outstanding short feature films by young film makers who have participated in projects held by the centre over recent years. The event will be divided into four sessions with stories about ‘Loneliness’ (four films), ‘Borderlines’ (five films), ‘Families’ (four films) and ‘Sorrows’ (four films). Vienna kicks off two-week film festival
Vienna's annual film festival, the Viennale, kicked off on Thursday evening, promising over 200 movies and documentaries and guest stars like director David Cronenberg and legend Harry Belafonte. The two-week event opened its 49th edition with Finnish director Aki Kaurismaki's film Le Havre and will close on November 2 with George Clooney's political drama The Ides of March, one of the hits at this year's Venice Film Festival. Among the dozens of films from around the world featured at this year's Viennale are Nanni Moretti's pope comedy Habemus Papam, Iran's Be Omid e Didar (Goodbye) by Cannes winner Mohammad Rasoulof and the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce, starring Kate Winslet. Local film to compete at Boston International Film Festival The Saigon Times Daily The movie Cha cong con (Father and Son) directed/scripted by Vietnamese director Luong Dinh Dung will compete at the Boston Int’l Film Festival 2017 from April 13-17, reports Vietnamplus. This year’s film festival has attracted 3,281 films from around the world competing in 17 categories for feature films, short films, documentaries and experimental films. The organizers will name three winners in each category. Boston Int’l Film Festival is one of the biggest events in Massachusetts in the U.S. Director Luong Dinh Dung shared that he is surprised and happy as his 90-minute movie is chosen for the festival and to have a chance to promote his creation to American viewers.
