Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has recorded significant achievements in managing national foreign debts over the past three decades, said an official at a workshop held in Hanoi on January 26. Vo Huu Hien, Vice General Director of the Ministry of Finance’s Department of Debt Management and External Finance, made the statement, adding that the effective management has transformed Vietnam from a poor and heavily indebted country into a one receiving international organisations’ recognition as having a controlled external debt level and being excluded from the group of countries with a debt burden. According to data from the ministry, the public sector’s proportion in the structure of the national external debt decreased from 73.6 percent in 2010 to 63.4 percent in 2015 and 43.7 percent in 2020. The Government’s foreign loans are mainly official development assistance and concessional loans. Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam has conditions and potential to become a developed country in the future as it boasts rich resources and abundant labour, high education lever, geographical advantages connecting Asia and the world, efficient government and patriotic citizens. New Zealand awards Global Competence Certificate to 25 Vietnamese students
For the past few years, New Zealand’s education system has been ranked first among English-speaking countries and third in the world for delivering a future-focused education, according to the Worldwide Educating for the Future Index by Economic Intelligence Unit. New Zealand has become a preferred study abroad destination for international students including Vietnam. HCM City’s Buddhist unit hailed for active engagement in COVID-19 response
HCM City (VNA) - HCM City’s Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee has expressed its appreciation of the southern city’s Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s active engagement in local COVID-19 response over the last year, Standing Vice Chairman of the committee Nguyen Thanh Trung told a conference on January 26. The conference was held by the Executive Board of the VFF committee to review Buddhist affairs last year and map out orientations for 2021. Trung said the VBS proved itself an important VFF member and became a symbol of national unity. Recognising its achievements in Buddhist affairs in 2020, he also praised the VBS for proactively supporting the city in combating COVID-19 and joining humanitarian, charitable, and social welfare programmes.
