Electronics groups from South Korea and Japan are continuing to expand in Vietnam, Le Toan The Saigon Hi-tech Park Management Authority has recently granted the license for Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex (SEHC) to expand its operation with a total investment capital of $841 million. Starting operations in 2016, SEHC is currently Samsung Electronics’ second-largest manufacturing site worldwide for TV screens and home electronics units. Meanwhile, Samsung Engineering has officially become the strategic shareholder of DNP Water, a member of DNP Holdings, after spending $41 million to acquire 24 per cent of the company. Of the sum, exports of key farm produce and forestry products reached $11.37 billion and $9.1 billion, surging 8.8 per cent and 3 per cent year-on-year, respectively, fishery products hit $5.8 billion, up 41 per cent annually, while that of livestock reached $176 million, down 16 per cent, and production input topped $1.42 billion, up 65 per cent. The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) reported last week by the Vietnam Electronic Industries Association (VEIA) that Apple has moved 11 factories from Chinese businesses in the supply chain to Vietnam, while other assemblers like Foxconn, Luxshare, Pegatron, and Wistron are ramping up production capacity in Vietnam. It is the result of participating in a short-term vocational training course organised by the district’s Centre for Continuing Education and Vocational Training. “After graduating from high school, I participated in a livestock training course organised by the centre. With the learned knowledge, I decided to develop a black pig farm with 200 pigs. Each year, the farm is calculated to provide between 70 and 80 tonnes of pork to the market and I may get between $4,350-8,700 per year,” Sin said. VN-Index loses nearly 15 points on selling pressure
From the beginning of the trading session, financial stocks, such as banks and securities, gained positively, keeping the VN-Index from falling sharply even though many sectors were flooded in the red. Banking stocks that climbed the most on the floor at approximately 3 percent were VIB, BID, TCB, CTG, and MBB. Securities stocks, like VCI, HCM, and VND, also remained in an upward trend. Besides, penny-chip stocks, like HAG, AMD, ITA, and HNG, and steel stocks, including HPG, HSG, and NKG, also went up because of vibrant trading.
