Six 10th graders of Hanoi-based gifted schools recently won a gold and five silver medals at the 10th International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) held in India. The gold medal went to Le Manh Tuan, a student of chemistry at Hanoi-Amsterdam Gifted High School. The five silver medals were awarded to Dao Vu Quang, a maths student, Tran Nhat Quang, a physics student, and Pham Quang Hieu, a chemistry student, all from Hanoi-Amsterdam Gifted High School. The other two silver medals were presented to Khuat Duy Hong, a maths student from Son Tay talented high school, and Le Ba Truong Giang, a maths student from Nguyen Hue talented high school. This is the highest result Vietnamese students have achieved in such competition. Vietnamese students won six bronzes in 2011 and three silver and three bronze medals in 2012. The Hanoitimes - All six Vietnamese students who participated in the 13th International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO), held in Bali, Indonesia have won prizes. All six Vietnamese students won prizes, including two gold medals, at the 13th International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO), held in Bali, Indonesia. The Vietnamese delegation, led by Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Le Ngoc Quang, engaged in chemistry, physics and biology tests. The gold medals belonged to Nguyen Ngoc Duc and Phan Minh Duc from the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. Two other students from this school, Nguyen Nga Nhi and Pham Quoc Khanh, grabbed silver medals. Meanwhile, Phan Ha Linh from the Hanoi-Amsterdam school and Dang Nguyen Tien Dat from the Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted gained bronze medals. Hanoi students win medals at International Junior Science Olympiad
Three silver medallists were Luong Hien Nga and Do Cao Minh Chau, both are students of the Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, and Nguyen Trong Khai from the Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted. Three other students of the Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted also brought home three bronze medals, including Nguyen Duc Hieu, Le Hoang Minh, and Tran Khanh Vy. The six Vietnamese students were selected by excelling at two qualification rounds hosted by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to represent Vietnam at the Olympiad. The 2017 International Junior Science Olympiad attracted more than 300 bright students aged 15 years and younger, from 50 countries around the world. During the event, the students were tested on their knowledge and skills in physics, biology and chemistry.
