European businesses positive about Vietnam’s prospects for green growth

The Business Climate Index is the leading indicator of the European business and investment community in Vietnam. European businesses in Vietnam expressed their positiveness about Vietnam’s prospects for green growth, according to the latest Business Climate Index (BCI) released by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) and YouGov Vietnam. Vietnam’s economy has performed well amid a difficult global environment in the first six months of the year. According to Chinh, Vietnam’s economy has performed well amid a difficult global environment in the first six months of the year. Chinh highlighted the GDP growth of 7.72% in the second quarter, the highest second-quarter growth since 2011, and the six-month GDP growth of 6.42%. Business Climate Index in Vietnam drops: EuroCham Vietnam

EuroCham President Alain Cany In comparison to the first quarter of 2022, European investors' confidence in Vietnam's growth potential has decreased. Approximately 60 percent of respondents predict that Vietnam's economy will stabilize or improve in the third quarter of 2022, while this figure was 69 percent the previous quarter. Northern Vietnam hit by massive power outages

Around 1 p.m., power went out in Hanoi’s inner districts like Ba Dinh, Cau Giay, Nam Tu Liem, Hai Ba Trung, and Hoang Mai. Nghia, manager of an office building in the Cau Giay District, stated that the power was restored after about 30 minutes. However the voltage spiked to more than 240 kilovolts (kV), causing some electrical equipment to be damaged. The damage is being assessed by building management. Prudential Vietnam launches new AI-powered mental wellness tools

According to a scientific brief released by the World Health Organization (WHO) in March, the global prevalence of anxiety and depression significantly increased by 25 per cent in the first year of the pandemic. In pre-pandemic Vietnam, according to the statistics published by the Institute of Mental Health under the Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital, 30 per cent of the population was diagnosed with various mental health issues, while 25 per cent was related to depression and 15 per cent were caused by stress disorders. Despite close to one in three people being aware of their conditions, only a few sought medical attention. Vietnam repors 685 more Covid-19 infections on Monday

An additional 685 new Covid-19 infections were confirmed on Monday, raising the national tally to over 10.74 million, according to the Ministry of Health. Vietnam minister proposes making middle school free next year

Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son has proposed that education fees be waived for all public middle schools across the country. The education minister put forward the proposal during an online conference with central- and local-level leaders on Monday morning. Son expects that his proposal will benefit students from grade sixth to ninth starting the 2022-23 school year, which is set to begin in less than two months. He requested the education ministry’s sub-units to work with the Ministry of Finance on evaluating the impacts of the proposed tuition exemption and calculating the state budget needed for this plan.
