SaigonTex 2018 introduces modern textile-garment machinery

At the event  The event is organised by the Vietnam National Garment and Textile Group (Vinatex), the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Hongkong-based CP Exhibition company. It is Vietnam’s sole textile and garment industry expo meeting UFI standard of the Global Association of the Exhibitor Industry. This year, SaigonTex attracts the participation of more than 900 firms from 27 countries and territories across the world, including Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong (China), India and Indonesia. Many leading experts are expected to attend the event to suggest measures to address the sector’s challenges.  Many advanced textile equipment machinery and spare parts as well as new materials are introduced at the event. Minister: CPTPP vital to sustainable development in Vietnam

  Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - The Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) Agreement would be a vital deal in utilising free trade and ensuring sustainable development in Vietnam, said Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh. Therefore, economic sectors should prepare and take the initiative in economic restructuring in order to maximise the pact, which is scheduled to be inked in Chile on March 8 (local time) by ministers from its 11 member countries, Anh told the Vietnam News Agency (VNA). The minister said such sectors as garment-textiles, footwear, food processing, beverage, confectionery, tobacco, wine and beer will benefit most from the deal. He cited a research jointly conducted by the World Bank (WB) and the research institute under the Ministry of Planning and Investment as saying that Vietnam’s GDP would be 1.1 percent higher in 2030 thanks to the CPTPP. Unlike the apparel sector, which is facing a slowdown due to the decline in orders, Vietnam’s leather and footwear exports are on the rise - PHOTO: VNA HANOI – While the country saw a year-on-year decline of 20% in textile and garment export orders in the January-November period, the shipment of leather footwear edged up 8%-10% during the 11-month period. Although the revenue from apparel exports over the period amounted to an estimated US$29.9 billion, up 7.8% year-on-year, the number of orders shipped to foreign countries tumbled, equal to 80% of the figure seen in the same period last year, according to a report by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
