Logistics has to play a crucial role in the success of the Vietnamese e-commerce market, property consultant Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) has said in a report. It said the launch of BW Industrial Development JSC in Viet Nam, a joint venture between leading global private-equity firm Warburg Pincus and giant State-owned developer Becamex IDC Corp last January demonstrates the potential of the country’s logistics market. “Compared to regional peers, Viet Nam’s logistics market is still in its infancy, and features low-specification premises located in remote locations. Significant investment is needed in technology, infrastructure and factories/warehouses to deal with obstacles like traffic congestion as well as the higher logistical costs in rural areas. “Driven mainly by potential growth in the e-commerce and manufacturing sectors, the Viet Nam logistics market will move to the next level, evolving in the same way as other markets.” JLL takes information from … [Read more...] about Logistics a key component of e-commerce in VN: study

Malaysia’s general election on Wednesday will be an extraordinary contest, pitting a 92-year-old former authoritarian leader and a jailed reformist he fell out with 20 years ago against a prime minister who has been mired in a multi-billion-dollar scandal. Few doubt that Prime Minister Najib Razak’s Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, which has ruled Malaysia for the six decades since independence, will triumph. However, the political risk group’s Asia director, Peter Mumford, said there is a danger … [Read more...] about Clash of political titans brings a gripping election to Malaysia

Along with the market’s traditional segments, new products have been introduced, such as second-home villas, condotels, and officetels. Since 2015, the Vietnamese government loosened its requirements for foreigners to buy and own properties in Vietnam, which helped attract more foreign investors to the market (Figures 1 and 2). Nonetheless, many experts and investors have cast doubts upon this rapid recovery, predicting underlying risks. These risks include an oversupply of high-end projects, the return of speculators, and falling market demand. The biggest concern would be another property bubble akin to the one that shook the market in 2007 and froze the property market until 2013. The market is still paying the cost of this previous bubble. As the … [Read more...] about Signs of another property bubble?
