Required by his task, Senior Lieutenant Narachet Witdamrong had to go aboard Vietnamese Vessel 012 at dawn and left it late in the evening. After his working time alongside his Vietnamese peers aboard, the Thai officer had meals and talked joyfully with Vietnamese crewmen. They told each other about their families, friends and all sorts of everyday stories. Singer Minh Thu joins Pattaya International Music Festival
Singer Minh Thu has been invited to represent Vietnam in the Pattaya International Music Festival, which will be held at Bali Hai Cape in Pattaya, Thailand from March 20th to 22nd. She will wear the traditional Vietnamese dress, Ao Dai, for her musical performances. According to Thu, it would be regrettable to miss this chance to popularise Vietnam and its culture. Vietnamese rocker to perform in Pattaya

The festival will gather a number of over 100 other popular Asian artists in variety of musical styles, including Johnny's Junior from Japan, Derrick Hoh from Singapore, Superkidz from Indonesia, Will Ng from Malaysia, Nina from the Philippines, and Tik Princess from Laos. Vietnamese weightlifter wins three Asian golds and breaks two records
(Cinet) – Young weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan won a hat-trick of three gold medals and broke two world youth records in the men's 56kg category at the Asian Youth Weightlifting Championship in Pattaya, Thailand on Sep 6. In this category, Tuan competed with six weightlifters from host Thailand , Malaysia and Uzbekistan . The Vietnamese weightlifter made 127 kg in the men’s snatch event to take gold, outstripping his Thai runner-up Arun Kon Ngoe by 25 kg and breaking the record of 122kg by Chinese Chen Xiong. He earned the second gold in the men’s clean and jerk event after lifting 150 kg, 20 kg more than the score of the silver medal winner. With a total of 277 kg, Tuan pocketed the third gold medal and broke the world youth record of 273 kg held by himself. Ever-resilient Thai tourism may bounce back after floods
Thailand's worst floods in 50 years have hit tourism at the start of the high season, but the country has recovered quickly in the recent past from all sorts of scourges and some tour operators are hopeful a recovery might start next month. Floodwater in some areas of the capital, Bangkok, and other provinces has started to recede, and the inner city and upmarket shopping districts have remained dry, but some in the tourist sector are still concerned. "Trips from Japan have all been canceled since last month and there are no new bookings now. They're a bit afraid of the situation but I think they will come back next month," said Euamthip Panjai of All the Best Travel. "But tourists from other countries are still coming and many of them go to Pattaya and Phuket," she said, referring to two seaside destinations south of Bangkok that are flood-free.
