Over the past few days, health workers at the District 7 Hospital and the Cu Chi General Hospital have cleaned up Covid-19 wards and other areas, disinfecting the premises including items like blankets, pillows and medical equipment. Both hospitals will retain a quarantine zone each for coronavirus cases where temporary treatment will be provided before the patients are transferred to full fledged Covid-19 treatment facilities. The District 7 Hospital has treated around 1,317 Covid-19 cases over the past two months, while the Cu Chi General Hospital of Cu Chi District has treated hundreds over the past month. Vietnam’s Ministry of Health has requested the country’s biggest city to explain the reason behind some 150,000 unreported positive coronavirus cases that were detected through mass testing since August 20. The request was made after health authorities of Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday asked the ministry to update to the national Covid-19 monitoring system the 150,000 positive cases found through rapid antigen tests, citing that the figure would cause significant changes to the city’s overall pandemic situation. If the cases get recognized, the southern city – currently the COVID-19 hotbed of the country – would see its death rate fall sharply to some 2.8 percent versus more than 4 percent as calculated previously, they explained. Vietnam confirmed an additional 4,589 Covid-19 infections on Tuesday, which was the lowest daily case count reported in two months, according to the Ministry of Health. According to the ministry's report, 4,583 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 34 localities including Binh Duong (2,575), Dong Nai (787), HCM City (377), An Giang (232), and Long An (159). There were six imported patients confirmed today. The new infection number showed a decrease of 4,759 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 717 infections found in the community.
