(Cinet)- About 120 photos, maps, documents and objects affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Paracel and Spratly archipelagos are on display at an exhibition which opened in Thanh Hoa city on May 12. The exhibition with the theme " Vietnam’s Paracel and Spratly – Historical and Legal Evidence ", which is being jointly organised by Ministry of Information and Communications and Thanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee Addressing the opening ceremony, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son said that the event will raise public awareness of the country’s sacred sovereignty over its sea and islands. (Cinet)- Nearly 100 maps and various ancient documents, artefacts and publications affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos are on display at an exhibition which opened in the island district of Phu Quy, Binh Thuan province on April 23. The exhibition with the theme “Hoang Sa, Truong Sa of Vietnam- Historical and legal evidence”, co-organized by the Ministry of Information & Communications and Binh Thuan provincial People’s Committee, showcases a collection of nearly 100 maps, documents, publications and objects that definitely affirm Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa and strongly reject China’s unfounded claim to the archipelagoes. East Sea issues are escalating in intensity, worrying international scholars at many East Sea conferences who fear a tragedy could occur in Asia, like one that happened to Europe in World War II. The world nowadays does not know or deliberately refuses to know that it is the sovereignty dispute over islands wherein involved parties or party pay(s) no heed to historical truths and to international law that causes intensity to escalate. During a recent international conference in Quang Ngai, one scholar from a university in Hong Kong said that historical facts about Vietnamese sovereignty are propagandized in a very limited manner to the world. The month-long “oil rig” crisis in the East Vietnam Sea has had the world seized by daily footage of clashes and confrontation between Chinese and Vietnamese vessels. The crisis began when China sent its biggest oil rig into water near the Paracels where Vietnam has claimed as its exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. Many countries have expressed concern over what they see as China’s unilateral attempt to change the status quo in the East Vietnam Sea. Hanoi has said that Beijing had violated its sovereignty over archipelagoes in the East Vietnam Sea by sending missiles to an island and building a chopper base on another.
