TPP Agreement unlikely to be reached by the end of 2014 The 12 ministers negotiating the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) failed to identify a clear course of action to conclude talks by the end of this year at a meeting on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Beijing, but agreed to accelerate the negotiation progress as much as possible. Japan’s minister in charge of the Trans-Pacific Partnership talks, Akira Amari, informed the press after the 12 TPP trade chiefs met in the Chinese capital on November 8. One of the current challenges in TPP negotiations is to find a compromise between the US and Japan, who disagree on taxes on sensitive agricultural products, such as rice, wheat, beef, pork and sugar, and on the automobile sector. Vietnam Airlines marks new step in Russian market The first flight using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft of national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines arrived at Domodedovo airport in Moscow, Russia, on March 27 (local time). Speaking at the welcome ceremony, Chief Representative of Vietnam Airlines in Russia Le Thanh Dung said the airline is striving to meet demand of passengers in Russia, adding that the airlines will operate new routes linking Vietnam and Russia in the future. Meanwhile, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh congratulated Vietnam Airlines on using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for the Hanoi-Moscow air route, contributing to the enhancement of the partnership between Vietnam and Russia, especially in tourism and people-to-people exchanges. History competition launched for senior high schoolers A competition on history and national culture yesterdaybwas launched amongst senior high schoolers in public schools and continuous studying centers nationwide. Tbe competition has been held by the Communist Youth Union and the Ministry of Education and Training. The two part competition includes online tests and video clip making. Online tests focus on the Vietnamese history and culture in the curriculum and dates of historic events, heroes, cultural celebrities, and outstanding Vietnamese in various fields of periods. Cam Ranh airport security police established The Security Service yesterday announced a decision by the Minister of Public Security to establish Cam Ranh international airport security police in the south central province of Khanh Hoa. Formerly the airport security police was a part of the Immigration Division under the Khanh Hoa Police Department. At the event, Lt. Gen Vu Thanh Binh who is deputy head of the Security Service required the airport security police to quickly stabilize organization and work with Khanh Hoa police and authorized agencies to keep a close control of entry and exit of Vietnam. They have been asked to ensure transparent operation and close security at the airport.
