In the morning, the delegations of the two navies held the 16th meeting on joint patrols under the co-chair of Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People’s Navy Rear Admiral Pham Van Hung and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Royal Cambodian Navy Vice Admiral Non Sophat. Reports at the event revealed that from December, 2021 to August, 2022, the naval forces of the two countries conducted three joint patrols. Participating naval troops of Vietnam and Cambodia have well carried out joint patrol plans and coordination activities, including hand-flag, signal lamp, and “Hello ASEAN” saluting ceremony (a saluting ceremony at sea between naval ships of ASEAN member states). Training course opens to preserve traditional Xam singing
Xam singing is expected to be recognized as a national intangible heritage and inscribed on UNESCO’S Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. For the first time, an advanced training course in the art of Xam (a music genre performed by blind artists) has been held in Hanoi from August 18 to 21. Three little Xam singers of Ha Thi Cau Club from Ninh Binh Province perform at the class. ITE HCMC, the largest and most established travel event in the Mekong Delta region, will be held under the theme of “Growing Forward Together” as part of the efforts to revive inbound tourism. Vietnam, India wrap up bilateral peacekeeping exercise
The Vietnamese team at the Vietnam - India Bilateral Army Exercise 2022 (Source: VNA) New Delhi (VNA) - The Vietnam - India Bilateral Army Exercise ( VINBAX ) 2022 wrapped up with a ceremony held at Engineering Brigade 474 in the Indian state of Haryana on August 18. Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Pham Sanh Chau said the UN peacekeeping exercise is to implement the joint action plan for 2021 - 2023 agreed upon by the two countries’ leaders. Farmer Support Fund works as lever for economic development in Bac Ninh
Illustrative image (Source: VNA) Bac Ninh (VNA) – Many farmer households in the northern province of Bac Ninh have benefited from soft loans to develop their production and increase income thanks to the support from the provincial Fund for Farmer Support. The family of Nguyen Van Dinh in Long Chau commune, Yen Phong district is among households accessing capital from the fund and successfully improve their economic production . Already having land and labourers, but Dinh’s family did not have capital for production. In 2019, after receiving a loan of 100 million VND (4,273 USD) from the fund, the family invested in raising ducks and goats as well as fish. Currently, each year, Dinh’s family sells 10,000 ducks and 300 goats, earning billions of VND. Dinh said that although the loan was not too big, it was of great help to his family at that time, enabling him to buy equipment for his duck and goat farm. Ho Chi Minh City’s foreign enclaves settle into ‘new normal’
Since Vietnam officially declared the COVID-19 pandemic under control earlier this year, foreign enclaves in Ho Chi Minh City have, once again, begun to bustle, with old stores resuming their operations and new shops opening every day in commercial spaces that sat unoccupied for months on end. Once Vietnam dropped its on-arrival COVID-19 testing requirement for foreign travelers and reopened its international air routes in mid-May, the number of foreigners entering the country began to increase, paving the way for foreign enclaves in Ho Chi Minh City to return to their pre-pandemic life.
