Damaged sea dyke in Phu Loc district (Photo: VNA) Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – Authorities of the central province of Thua Thien – Hue on March 26 approved a Luxembourg-funded climate change adaptation project in the locality. The project costs about 2.3 million EUR. Of the sum, 2 million EUR is sourced from the Luxembourg government’s non-refundable aid via the Global Climate Partnership Fund, while the remaining comes from the local budget. The project will be carried out in 30 months in 29 communes in Quang Dien, Phu Vang, and Phu Loc districts, aiming to enhance local capacity to respond to climate change. Its first component, “capacity”, focuses on raising public awareness of climate change response. Vietnamese man visits 50 countries, and counting, on motorbike
A Vietnamese man from southern Vietnam is living his dream, or everyone’s dream: traveling the world by motorbike. On the 794th day of his journey, Tran Dang Dang Khoa reached Sydney - the two-third mark on his seven-continent motorbike journey. “Suddenly I opened my eyes and I saw Sydney, an important milestone which marks two-thirds of my world journey on ‘The Memo’ and over two years since my departure,” Khoa shared with his 237,500 Facebook followers on August 3. A picture capturing nature in a rural area in Australia taken by Khoa has received positive feedback from his Facebook followers. “The Memo” is the name of the motorbike he has used for the trip, which began in June 2017, and the vehicle has so far taken him through around 50 countries. Fashion brand SEVEN.AM resumes Hanoi business

All six SEVEN.AM stores in the capital city opened after the Vietnam Directorate of Market Surveillance said it did not find any sign that the chain had replaced made-in-China labels on its products with Vietnamese ones as reported by local media. However, Hanoi-based MHA Jsc, which owns the SEVEN.AM brand, was fined VND110 million ($4,740) for some labeling mistakes, including listing incorrect information on its products including year of production and material used, the directorate said in a statement. Another company, Thu Ky International Fashion, a franchisee of SEVEN.AM, was fined VND60 million ($2,585) for similar mistakes. The directorate’s investigation found that a manufacturer of SEVEN.AM products in Ha Dong District had imported goods from China in 2017 and 2018, but had sold all of them. Vietnam-Laos trade hits 940 million USD in ten months

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Trade cooperation was a spotlight of the Vietnam-Laos relationship in the first ten months of this year, with revenue reaching 940 million USD. The figure was unveiled at a meeting of permanent Cabinet members in Hanoi on December 7 under the chair of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. The two-way trade is projected to hit 1.1-1.2 billion USD in 2019, up 12.6 percent year-on-year, surpassing the targets of 1 billion USD and 10 percent set by the Government. Vietnam has become the third biggest investor in Laos with 413 projects valued at 4.22 billion USD, with the most outstanding a joint venture of Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel), projects of Vietnam Rubber Group, Muong Thanh Hotel, Crow Plaza, LaoViet Bank and Xekaman 1 hydropower plant.
