24 players chosen for VN national football squad
VietNamNet Bridge – Coach Nguyen Huu Thang of Viet Nam’s national team selected 24 players yesterday (May 18) for the upcoming friendly match with Syria on May 31 and a four-sided tournament in Myanmar June 3-6. Among players named on the list, Thang convened three players of Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) who are playing for foreign teams, namely midfielders Nguyen Tuan Anh (Japan’s Yokohama FC) and Luong Xuan Truong (South Korea’s Incheon United FC), as well as striker Nguyen Cong Phuong (Mito Holly Hock FC of Japan). Int’l community praises VN’s search for missing plane
The Global Times, a China-based newspaper yesterday ran an article written by an expert from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences which said Viet Nam had taken positive steps in the search for the missing jet. Viet Nam immediately sent aircraft and ships to trace the missing plane in suspected water areas. Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the People's Army of Viet Nam Vo Van Tuan directed the mission. Viet Nam also set up a command office on Phu Quoc island near the suspected site. Viet Nam also committed to continue working with foreign forces in the search. According to the BBC, via the effort, the Vietnamese Government reflected high responsibility for a humanitarian issue which relates various countries. Business news lifts VN stocks
Vietnamese shares extended rallies on both local exchanges yesterday as positive business information drove companies up and energy stocks benefited from recent gains in oil prices. The benchmark VN Index added 0.7 per cent to close at 571.60 points, rallying 2.8 per cent in the last three trading days. The HNX Index on the Hà Nội Stock Exchange rose 0.5 per cent to finish at 79.70 points. The northern index has increased by 1.6 per cent in the last four sessions. Both markets were boosted by stocks that have provided positive business information. Dairy firm Vinamilk (VNM) rose 2.9 per cent after the company recently removed seven businesses from its portfolio to raise foreign investment in its capital.
