Vietnam reports nearly 3,000 more Covid-19 cases on Friday
An additional 2,983 more Covid-19 infections were confirmed in Vietnam on Friday, raising the country's total tally to over 11 million, according to the Ministry of Health. A Covid-19 patient is being treated at a hospital in Hanoi According to the ministry's report, the national caseload has so far increased to 11,379,554. On August 19, an additional 6,975 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 10.05 million. On Friday evening, no deaths from Covid-19 were recorded, the country's total fatalities stayed at 43,103, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections. By August 19, the country had injected more than 253 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. Vietnam has not yet drafted plans to give Covid-19 vaccines to children under five years old. In Vietnam, since the beginning of this year, natural disasters have been increasingly irregular, with unseasonal rains and flooding accompanied by thunder storms , strong winds and storms. From March 30 to April 2, heavy rain in the central region caused widespread damage, especially to agricultural production. From April 15 to 28, 41 earthquakes were recorded in Kon Plong district in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum. International role key for methane emission cuts
Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh on August 1 approved the National Strategy on Climate Change for 2050. According to the plan, by 2025, the total methane emission volume should not exceed 96.4 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent (CO2e), a decrease of 13.34 per cent from 2020. The limits on CO2 emissions will be applicable to such areas as cultivation (42.2 million tonnes) and animal husbandry (16.8 million tonnes). By 2030, Vietnam will develop and implement an action plan to reduce methane emissions by 30 per cent compared to 2020. Methane is the primary contributor to the formation of ground-level ozone, a hazardous air pollutant and greenhouse gas (GHG). Mitigating GHG emissions in agriculture is an urgent requirement because agriculture produces a substantial amount of it, which contributes greatly to global warming and climate change.
