25th National TV Festival attracts new programming (05-01-2006) The 25 th Annual National Television Festival opened yesterday in the coastal city of Nha Trang, with the objective of promoting the nation’s latest programming. Festival organisers are offering free public screenings of 578 entries in various genres from 76 television stations, State-owned and private film companies across the country. The best series, documentary and news report will each take home total prize money amounting to VND700 million (US$44,000). Ha Noi’s Viet Nam Television Production Centre, one of the country’s biggest film companies, has entered four new series by hot directors like Do Duc Thanh, Bach Diep and Quoc Trong. An Ninh Tien Te’s reporters found a list of the members of the team that conducted a survey with an oceanographic research ship in the south and southwest territorial waters in 2013 and was surprised because there was no “chief scientist” in the list. VietNamNet Bridge – The government disagrees with the opinion that Vietnam has “too many university graduates”, and that society’s resources are being wasted. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said at a conference on the establishment of the Vietnam Association of Universities and Junior Colleges late last week that the country does have too many graduates with bachelor’s degrees. Prior to his speech, local newspapers had quoted many education experts as saying that Vietnam produces “more than enough” graduates with bachelor’s degrees, who often end up jobless.
