Vietnam’s manufacturing output continues an upward trend in July
Manufacturers remained optimistic that production will increase in the next 12 months. The S&P Global Vietnam Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) remained above the 50.0 no-change mark for the tenth successive month at 51.2 in July, signaling a further strengthening of business conditions. A reading below the 50 neutral marks indicates no change from the previous month, while a reading below 50 indicates contractions, and above 50 points means an expansion, according to S&P Global. New orders increased for the tenth month running, but the rate of expansion eased to the weakest since April. New export business rose solidly, meanwhile, and at a faster pace than total new orders. The continued growth of new orders encouraged manufacturers to keep expanding production in July. Output rose for the fourth successive month. That said, the rate of expansion was only marginal and the softest in the current sequence of growth amid signs of demand … [Read more...] about Vietnam’s manufacturing output continues an upward trend in July

Analysis: Global energy crisis drives rethink of nuclear power projects
MANILA -- The Philippines' Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) has not produced any electricity since it was finished in 1984, despite its $2.3 billion price tag and its promise of energy security during the 1970s oil crisis. Approved by former dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr., his son and new President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has revived discussions on proposals to rehabilitate the site amid the current energy crisis that has pushed prices for traditional power generating fuels coal and natural gas to records. The BNPP's potential revival is one sign of the renewed interest in nuclear power. Governments across Europe and Asia are extending their aging fleet of nuclear plants, restarting reactors and dusting off plans to resume projects shelved after the 2011 nuclear crisis in Fukushima, Japan. Both the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden and the International Energy Agency have said nuclear power is critical for countries to meet global net-zero carbon emissions goals and … [Read more...] about Analysis: Global energy crisis drives rethink of nuclear power projects

Power industry honors martyrs
In addition to ensuring stable and safe power supply, EVN’s units have always demonstrated social responsibility. Each unit helps families in need, especially those of war invalids and martyrs living in the areas where they operate. This year, EVN units beefed up such activities in order to contribute to the dissemination of revolutionary traditions, patriotism, national pride, and responsibility of party members and state employees. Since June, EVN trade unions have been visiting families and revolution contributors in many localities. Specifically, the Power Transmission Company No.1 (PTC1) came to offer incense in memory of heroes and martyrs at Vi Xuyen National Martyrs Cemetery in Ha Giang Province; the Ninh Binh PC Trade Union visited and presented gifts to the Nho Quan Invalids Nursing Center in Ninh Binh Province. Stock market showing no indication of growth
Although all the micro-economic and macro-economic advantages are available, it seems that there is no key catalyst for trending towards a new growth level at the stock market. Profits vary Initial statistics show that around 600 corporations have made public their financial statements in the second quarter of 2022. The number could be a bit higher if all the estimated figures were actively made public. Figures will continually be updated over the next few days, but the sales and profits of listed corporations will rise positively. For instance, as estimated by Vndirect Securities Corporation, considering 590 corporations listed by 26 July the total sales and profits in the second quarter increased by 25.3% and 17.9% respectively, over the same period last year. Stocks with high capitalization of more than VND 10,000 bln have recorded an average of 34.3% increase in sales and 24.9% in net profits. It is certainly normal for the stock trading market to have dark and bright … [Read more...] about Stock market showing no indication of growth
